Not the Southern Hemisphere Championship, though, obviously, as 1 of them will be hosting the Lions. -
as i mentioned in the Japan in Super rugby thread, i enjoyed watching them play on the weekend, they were creative and tried a variety of approaches throughout the game and made good yards at times, would love to see them play against Argentina or Aussie to get a better gauge

@canefan I doubt very much that Scotland or Italy would want to see any change to the 6 Nations status quo, least of all promotion and relegation.
The 6 Nations is already financially lucrative for England and Wales, although both unions have expressed some support to closer links to Japan. Who wouldn't want the world third largest economy as part of their tournament?
If there is support for South Africa joining the Six Nations, then it is from Ireland and France. More games against the Boks would undoubtedly increase their revenues.

In terms of voting, Scotland has historically been a conservative and well run union, I can't see much appetite for change from them.
…….and Italy are in the midst of a 30 game losing streak having not won since 2015 against Scotland.

@mn5 Italy's presence in the 6 Nations make less and less sporting sense.
But I suspect most England, Welsh, Scots, Irish and French fans would prefer the thought of a boozy weekend in Rome to one in Tbilisi or the cost of stumping up a trip to Tokyo or Johannesburg every other year.
Only way I could see the Springboks entry to the 6 Nations working at all would be if they based themselves in Amsterdam or Manchester for the tournament's duration.

WR have no say in who is in RC or 6N, so that's irrelevant. I would imagine that investment group that brought a chunk of the 6N would be very keen to have the boks in

It makes no sense from a sporting sense. It would become a mini World Cup every year for the teams that can win it apart from including the All Blacks. Devaluing the RWC and the TRC in the process.
Plus Italy are equal shareholders in the 6 nations company so it would have to be the 7 nations as if they tried to replace Italy, there would be outrage and probably years of litigation to follow.
Then we keep hearing about the traditions of the 6 nations. This would throw that out of the window completely.

They are the governing body that sanction the competition. If the World Rugby Council thought it was detrimental to the game they could block the Boks from joining, they could withhold WC funding etc.
