Just imagine being a team competing at the Olympics. One team member makes a mistake, they lose, and the team's funding is cut, so it's harder for the whole team and any future team members to qualify for and compete at the next Olympics.
That just makes no f*cking sense!

Given the history of the Kendalls and co in windsurfing/boardsailing over the years, it was surprising to see no NZ competitors in Tokyo this time around.

@machpants I don't understand this reaction. One rider was just very unlucky in this race, while they were ahead. Why would you want their funding cut ?
