    @sparky
Not sure how this reflects on NZ badly, this has nothing to do with the government.

More to the point, all the Kiwi players are currently based in Aust. NZRL can't do shit either.

@mofitzy_ True, but I doubt it will be seen that way.

Looks as though the competition organisers' hopes are that the players will rebel against their national bodies, either by competing for other nations or by getting the national bodies to reconsider.

Hope they can make that work and we get some sort of RLWC going.

Not a huge follower, but it's very much the community game in large parts of Nth England and they don't deserve this on top of Covid.

As this is the Fern, we really should add the term "relative"...

I'm not sure the players were consulted before this decision to withdraw was made. The NRL and ARLC are calling the shots.

2021 Rugby League World Cup to be delayed until 2022. It will probably now clash with the Football World Cup in Qatar.

That'll make big difference to interest in both tournaments.

                        Wait. No it won't.

The Aussies comp is done, now for the real games:

                              New Zealand Kiwis squad

                              Nelson Asofa-Solomona (Melbourne Storm)
                              Jesse Bromwich (Melbourne Storm)
                              Kenneath Bromwich (Melbourne Storm)
                              Dylan Brown (Parramatta Eels)
                              James Fisher-Harris (Penrith Panthers)
                              Kieran Foran (Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles)
                              Peta Hiku (North Queensland Cowboys)
                              Jahrome Hughes (Melbourne Storm)
                              Sebastian Kris (Canberra Raiders)
                              Moses Leota (Penrith Panthers)
                              Isaac Liu (Gold Coast Titans)
                              Joseph Manu (Sydney Roosters)
                              Jeremy Marshall-King (Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs)
                              Ronaldo Mulitalo (Cronulla Sharks)
                              Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad (Canberra Raiders)
                              Briton Nikora (Cronulla Sharks)
                              Marata Niukore (Parramatta Eels)
                              Isaiah Papali'i (Parramatta Eels)
                              Jordan Rapana (Canberra Raiders)
                              Brandon Smith (Melbourne Storm)
                              Scott Sorensen (Penrith Panthers)
                              Joseph Tapine (Canberra Raiders)
                              Jared Waerea-Hargreaves (Sydney Roosters)
                              Dallin Watene-Zelezniak (Warriors)

Kris seems to be the out and out bolter. CNK with the Olsen Filipaina selection. No Johnson will presumably cause some headlines.

                              No Hynes named for Australia.

The Aussies comp is done, now for the real games:

                                      New Zealand Kiwis squad

                                      James Fisher-Harris (Penrith Panthers)
                                      Kieran Foran (Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles)
                                      Peta Hiku (North Queensland Cowboys)

                                      Marata Niukore (Parramatta Eels)
                                      Isaiah Papali'i (Parramatta Eels)
                                      Jordan Rapana (Canberra Raiders)
                                      Brandon Smith (Melbourne Storm)

                                      Dallin Watene-Zelezniak (Warriors)

Kris seems to be the out and out bolter. CNK with the Olsen Filipaina selection. No Johnson will presumably cause some headlines.

                                      No Hynes named for Australia.

@Nepia I don’t think Kris is a true bolter just on the form that he and Timoko had for Canberra. CNK could be considered more of a bolter just on lack of first grade games! Likely one of Kris or CNK partner Hiku in the centres. Manu won’t be considered for anything other than fullback I suspect as he is that good

It’s a good squad, hopefully we stay injury free.

Kris is a bolter more on the fact he's actually a NZer than anything else (and chose to play for us).

                                          So Penrith won everything

Gus just formalised their best advantage. They have sole dominion over the best rugby league nursery in the world. They develop the wealth of talent, their team is stacked with local juniors because they ALL grow up wanting to be Panthers. There is nothing else out there, rugby league is king

Throw in Sydney's fucked up property prices actively pushing league demographic families in to their area and the rest of the league should be worried.

Their top side won't be as good next year without kikau and apisau, but I don't bet against them unearthing good replacements.

And because they are local boys, and lots are family oriented poly boys, it's very hard to buy them away.

And they aren’t small families either, so there’s usually a younger bro or cousin coming through the ranks.

The system seems pretty solid but don’t underestimate the Sydney league media trying to find ways to get at them and unearth some controversy.
