Watched Legend, the Kray movie with Tom Hardy playing them both. And fighting himself, fuck CGI is amazing these days

I was riveted. Not because it was anything all that new about the Reggie and Ronnie, but I guess I was just captivated by the performances and the movie itself seemed pretty well made

Had the mad brother from Peaky Blinders further typecasting himself (nah he's good) and the Kingsmen fella.

Worth a look if you've no distractions I reckon

Hardy was very very good

The CGI wasn't anything that hasn't been done before, I mean Back to the Future was full of it when the characters encountered their older/younger selves.

Hardy was awesome but the flick changed moods too much for my liking, couldn't decide if it was serious or black comedy.
-

Zootopia.

Fun.

Mrs boo and Ms boo jr are raving about it.

I liked it. 7 out of 10. A solid "better than average".

Very busy movie with lots happening in the background and I want to live in Zootopia.

saw this today, was pretty good, kids liked it....liked the Sloths.
-

Captain America: Civil War

Kind of hard to remember, in the middle of all the explosions, punching, and awesome, that this was actually about Captain America and Bucky, and one fucked up unit played by the German sniper kid from Basterds.

The bringing together of the characters - I haven't seen Ant Man at this point - was great, and all the nerds cheered around their gluttonous mouthfuls of popcorn and halitosis when Spider Man showed up.

It was a lot of fun, and a lot of movie at around 2 hours. A good addition to the Marvel Universe and the CA storyline. Probably puts the Captain America films on an upward trajectory i.e. original was OK, Winter Soldier I thought was pretty good, and this one was slightly better.

There are two end scenes BTW - one mid-credits and one end credits. I was busy trying to herd the boy's friends out the door to their parents who had already been waiting 20 minutes to pick them up. Fuck you, cinema previews!

I give it 4.5 Ridiculous Scarlett Johansson poses out of 5.
-

Agreed.

Also, best Spiderman on film (yep, better than any Spiderman movie). Black Panther is a good addition also.

And yep, it's a lot of fun (take note Mr Z Snyder).

Best superhero film since, um, Deadpool. ;)
-

From the trailers I've seen, I'd say yes.
-

Watchmen

I had only seen part of this before, so lined it up on Netflix while the wife was in hospital the last couple of days.

I never read the graphic novel, so don't have that perspective. Can only assume the fanbois hated the movie for some reason.

Anyway, I quite like this movie - it ends in a way that is perhaps weak to some, because it reflects the ambiguity of life in a lot of ways. Its no flag-waving hoorah movie that an audience can easily consume. In that way it was probably a bit early for its time - we see the latest round of superhero movies with less and less clear-cut good and bad.

The world is suitably gritty, and Malin Akermann gets the girls out. What's not to like?

3.5 glowing blue penises out of 5.
-

Malin Akermann is hot, and quite often gets the girls out. Bless her.

The fanbois loved it, well at least the Fern one's did. I'm in the definitely don't love it camp (it is a Zack Snyder film) and the fanbois took me to task for it IIRC.
-

Weird shitometer movie of the week: Stoker.

Very creepy and dark, a sprinkling of incest, with a couple of psychotic sociopaths running around and strangling people with belts. Which they REALLY enjoy.

I'm basically a child in an adults body but yeah I really enjoyed it and my wife absolutely loved it. It's very well done overall.
-

Watched "The Martian" on the plane. Really fucking good movie.

Does anyone else find "Mr & Mrs Smith" wildly entertaining?
-

Love that movie. Especially when they both figure out the truth and start trying to kill each other. So much chemistry in that movie, poor Jen never stood a chance.
