@kiwiwomble I think I like getting to know a small group of characters and following them as they progress. Same with SW Rebels

@canefan interesting, i was the opposite, will watch the next series but fet there were too many filler episodes and side missions, i like how clones wars often had 3-6 episode arcs with the odd filler episode
I think some of those side mission type eps were used to set up future stories for this show and others. Pretty sure that some of the characters will reappear in Mando/Boba. Was also good to see the origin story for Rebels.

@crucial all very true, think i would have prefered just a bit more of a arc for the team rather than setting up, im sure it will all pay of
I think they had to tell the story of the demise of the Clones first as well as how clones did actually have personalities alongside inhibitor chips. Now they are real characters.

Finally saw Solo.
It's pretty shit. Not LJ shit but uninspiring and boring probably best describes it. Some of the early scenes were good and I particularly liked the scene where Han was in the middle of some sort of invasion. But ultimately it was very meh. That droid was utterly ridiculous. Not a big fan of the Chewie-Han backstory either. Was that cannon prior to the film? Actually one scene I really liked was Chewie helping out the other Wookies in the mine. The final "battle" was about as exciting and satisfying as a piece of bread. The dude playing Han was likeable and tried really hard but just wasn't believable as the Han we know and love. And that was killed by his emo son.
Ultimately, it was just another example of the SW universe being criminally underutilised. Thank God for the Mandalorian.

@rancid-schnitzel dont think the chewie/han back story was canon previously but more because everything pre the disney take over was decanonised except the six movies at that point
dont know what the previous canan back story was
have to say i didn't mind it, another movie i would love to see how it was originally envisaged, director change wtc

Extremely weak villain too I thought.

Yeah, who knows. It was very disjointed. Could and should have been much better. A second film with Jabba and Maul would have been cool but they should have pulled out all the stops for this one. Stupid.
-
@rancid-schnitzel yeah, disney can afford to ,in this case, just commit to and even make two movies concurrently...making one that sets up "the good stuff" and then not making the sequel is just disappointing

Tell me about it. But most things were lame. Especially the marauders suddenly being freedom fighters. Ffs.

Does anyone know if there’s a sequel in the works or does the fact it tanked a bit mean there won’t be ?
I mean, Q’ira is YET ANOTHER strong female character ( As if Mando didn’t introduce enough of them, feminists ) so it might be interesting to know what her fate was in SW lore. I doubt she’s off living a peaceful life by the time of the OT, surely someone has popped her off prior to that.
I’m excited as fuck about the Boba Fett show, Please please please PLEASE be as awesome as Mando……

@mn5 dont think anything is in the works, i think the only current starwars project unannounced but in the works is the taika waititi project and i dont know why but i cant see him taking it up
Yeah I have a strong feeling the Solo storyline will fall by the wayside with all the other activity that’s going on. Let’s not forget the Obi Wan series which I suspect will be all kinds of sensational, however like the Fett series it will in all likelihood take place entirely on Tattooine, that location has been done to death in my opinion. I’m fairly sure Obi Wan got there and never left til he met Han and Chewie in a New Hope.
Big questions as to what he really did for all those years too, it’s not like the Empire ever knew he was there so he didn’t draw too much attention to himself.

i heard early rumours for several years Obi-wan went out looking for Jedi that had survived and tats would at least make up part of the series...fingers crossed, wonder if we'll see a live action version of the maul episode from rebels

Yeah his arc with Maul would be great if we saw it in live action form.
I thought he literally kept his head down and checked on Luke, nothing more than that. However judging by how Uncle Owen described him it’s not like he came round for dinner every week.

This is the problem with "filler". It starts to impact on the actual storyline. If Obi is travelling the Galaxy doing awesome shit, it makes less likely that he was able to live anonymously on Tatooine.
There is zero momentum for a new Solo film. I think it's only chance for success would be the inclusion of Jabba, Maul, Fett and Vader. Maybe even an Obi cameo. Again, the scope and potential are endless yet for some reason (other than the Mandalorian) we keep getting served uninspiring dross.

Definitely, so much of Rogue Ones appeal was DV even though he was in it only briefly.
