    @crucial I was just coming to comment on that, Apple have a pretty decent track record with thier productions, and the trailer looks great.

    Just finished the first episode. OMFG. I am so glad I lived long enough to see this filmed using technology that does the concepts justice. It is stunning.

    I'm going to try this tomorrow (edit, too much rugby) soon, looks great

    Watched Foundation. The visuals are stunning but way too po-faced and serious. Maybe that appeals to sci-fi geeks?

    Been watching Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist with the other half.

    Has been pretty good for a mutual interest watch-together show. The episode where it get to the music infecting her (which I watched last night) it got downright hilarious.

    The future has no sense of humour.

    Luckily Star Wars was set 'a long time ago....'

    In its defence Foundation was written during WW2, 80 years ago. There wasn’t any sci-fi to take the piss out of or subvert, because this story was pretty much the entire genre.

    They’ve changed some things from the book but turning it into a joke would have just antagonised any fans.

    Ted Lasso

    Wow, what a fall fall from S1 to S2.

    10 episodes into S2, and it's been 2 great, 6 average, and 2 appalling (courtesy of Apple demanding 2 extra episodes be slotted in after the fact, it's crazy how easy they are to identify)

    Really lost its way.

    I didn't get this at all. Before reading this I've heard other people complaining about it but aside from one storyline which I'll discuss in a spoiler below I've really enjoyed this season.

    I actually really like the two added ones too, they gave me a kind of Atlanta and Master of None vibe and I like those two shows.

    Ah well, I'm happy at least. 😉

    :::

    The whole Nate being a complete asshole was just weird. I have no problem with how they made him to big for his boots, but the off screen abuse/threatening of the new changing room guy at the end of the episode just didn't work as a characterisation.

    I thought the Beard Ep was about the worst piece of TV I have ever seen. So boring, so out of place. Xmas Ep right behind it. Just terrible.

    Agree re Nate

    @victor-meldrew yeah we found ourselves going "oh shit what happened last season again?" for the first ten minutes.

    S9 of Endeavour has ended. Good watch.

    :::

    The last episode was weird and way over the top, but funnily enough, I really enjoyed it, bit like The Shining meets Midsomer Murders The sub plots with Thursday's son & Morse's alcoholism were brilliantly done with some really impressive acting.

    We’ll have to agree to disagree - also clearly you’ve never watched reality tv if that’s your baseline for worst. 😏

    @nepia What's this 'reality TV' of which you speak? Surely the whole point of TV is to divorce from reality? Ah now I get it. Although TBH I have never watched any of the genre.

    I get both sides of the argument re Ted Lasso. I still really look forward to it but think Season 1 was better when it focused more on the team dynamics and less of interpersonal stuff outside the dugout.

    Probably a good decision to quit after Season 3.

    I am similarly conflicted by Foundation. I was really really looking forward to this, but I don't know how much it's going to appeal to a broader audience. It does look fantastic but it's very slow, even though a lot happened. Maybe I should have revisited the books beforehand. It is koffkoff since I read them (well before anything but the original trilogy had been written)

    @dogmeat I was intending to watch the first ep of Foundation last night but forgot about it.

    Instead I watched a couple of eps of Yellowstone which gets a bit of hype on here but must admit I'm a bit iffy on it.

    Yellowstone does take a little while to develop the characters and to understand the family and political dynamics.

    I am working my way through the Marvel shows on Netflix, which I never watched at the time. I probably should have watched them in order but it hasn't worked out that way.
