I always thought “chippies” was to differentiate from “chips”.

Nope, if I’m going to a mates place and ask what to bring the reply will be “beer and chippies” every time.

Crisp is how you describe the weather, not what you eat.

For me you have a bag of chips which is great on white bread and butter with tomato sauce or you have hot chips (Think, thin, wavy or otherwise) which is great on white bread and butter with tomato sauce.
Everything else in the Aisle is called by their product name. (Burger Rings (broulp!) Cheesels, Twisties, Pringles etc)
