All the comments about the French Test are getting crowded out. Can we keep this thread about selections for this week etc?

More general stuff about changing coaches etc can go in the AB 2021 thread

and to bring it around to this

i would cut Foster an awful lot of slack if he chucked the baby out with the bathwater this week and just threw newbies in there everywhere. Lets see what they are made of.

yep. Change at least one loose forward (i would change 2, actually probably 3) as well.

Fuck all you can do at prop except bring Ofa T in and hope he keeps his brain connected

I like the idea of dropping Retallick for Vaa'i. It sends a signal that no one is safe if they don't perform

          Surely QT will start?

I'd start Coles and have ST on the bench. Taylor has earned a demotion.

Loosies - Cane/Savea/Ioane with Papali'i on the bench. I hope Cane is ready for a hard Test..

Props? No idea. They are all a bit shit. Ofa has been disappointing since returning from injury.

yea, i would start Ioane, Cane, and Sotutu actually. With one of Papali'i or Blackadder on the bench (both bloody good players who are both still learning).

Savea should be on the chopping block if we're serious. But he will start, because there isn't much in the way of accountability.

Maybe. I suspect the selectors will go for experience in the front row though

That Ardie is seen as indispensable sums up the problems. We were told at the outset they were going to address our passiveness and yet he's named constantly.

                    Vaa'i, Tupaea, Taukei'aho?

That Ardie is seen as indispensable sums up the problems. We were told at the outset they were going to address our passiveness and yet he's named constantly.

A coach fav at No.8 according to Foster.
Savea on the bench or at 7 if starting
                    I wouldn’t mind seeing Akira at 8.

This thread reads like a lot of the threads on GAGR after the Wobblies have once again being smacked by us. All about selection changes chopping and changing from week to week.
                      A real sign of desperation.

Better coaching, with a decent winning game plan would be better.

Well, the story in the Herald announced how good the team feels after the review with Moody saying there was nothing wrong with the gameplan and Sam Cane saying they feel great for a bounce back. If we get smacked by France, then we know we are in real trouble.

awful lot of slack if he chucked the baby out with the bathwater this week and just threw newbies in there everywhere. Lets see what they are made of.

@antipodean He would be okay at 7 but once again he is played out of position and has to play like a ball runner which is good when he has space.

Plumtree has said that he likes Savea at no.8 as he gets his hands on the ball more, to be a ball-runner. That is fine in theory as long as the other 2 loose forwards complement Savea's strengths and just as importantly, his weaknesses. That means you need a no.6 who can bend the defensive line and make dominant tackles, not just make tackles. We have that player, but he has been relegated to the bench. BTW, that loose forward trio played Aust in Perth.

@bovidae A savea is a good ball runner on the fringes against weak and open defences.

A player is hardly going to blame the game plan (ie the coaches). Moody may very well believe it but I wouldn't take it as gospel.

Wouldn't mind seeing this combination against France, provided Cane is fit:

                                        6 Cane
                                        7 Papalii
                                        8 Ioane
                                        20 Savea

Should give us the most dominant tackles and turnovers, with one good ball carrier, and two decent ones. Would like to see Papalii used to carry more. Savea on late to run and get turnovers.
