so, i had the morning news on and they had the weather guy out doing his thing from some brand new pavilion/stand in west sydney, they specifically talked about how it was mainly for a Rugby Union club (although they hope to use it for lots of sports)

they had the representative of the club come on to give a we plug and was asked about Rugby UNION in west sydney.....his reply...."yeah, Unions really big and we expect a lot of interest after THE PANTHERS won the final the other week"

...his go too example of something that would drive up interest IS FROM ANOTHER SPORT!..not the wallabies beating the bokke twice....not a new super rugby comp.....this is whats broken in aussie rugby

I wonder if he's signed for MP? I'm assuming the Blues aren't that stupid.

                  Interesting stat

Over the course of ENG's 8-0 winning run O.Farrell has scored 150 points vs wallabies 151. Farrell's points alone would have won ENG 5 of the 8. Ninety six of OF's points have come from penalty goals. Ongoing indiscipline is killing us. When will we learn

@machpants it is discipline but it is on the back of territory and possession to England. Simple game - piggyback it down field and use your retention to set up for goal kicks.

If we reduce the Wallabies' handling errors by 50% on Saturday they stand a very good chance to win the game, and reducing the penalty count against.

Anyway, the good news story out of Australia Rugby this week: I managed to secure $50K in grants to buy our club some seating.

We're not a large club, and really this grant was pure speculation on my part. We weren't contributing anything to it. We didn't get DA because we sort of didn't need it, and in a couple of months we'll take delivery of two of these beauties:

Pretty fucking happy Club Secretary right here. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

you should 100% hook the scrum machine up to one end!

Thats great, we have nothing like that, currently trying to raise fund to build a pavilion, we currently use the Grand Prix pits as out changing rooms. not ideal

@kiwiwomble this was a State Government grant called "Community Building Partnership" with up to $400K in each electorate. I guess not a lot of people in our electorate applied if we were given full funding! πŸ™‚ Even got a letter from the Premier, which is funny because his school's Old Boys team is in our division 🀣

                                https://www.nsw.gov.au/projects/community-building-partnership

There is also the Local Sports Grants they do every year where I scoop up around $6K to help offset running the club.

We don't own basically anything on our ground as we don't have that sort of capital. Parramatta Eels NRL are the lease holder now so we deal with them instead of Council, and it makes things MUCH easier.

Throw in the fact they maintain the turf to professional levels, and want to upgrade the amenities we have, and we've really been kissed on the dick by an angel. It helps that their GM played rugby for Eastwood Colts and is very community-focused. My President gets on very well with him, and despite being small, we look to contribute any way we can.

Contrast that to the 2 rugby league clubs (one senior, one junior) who share the facility, and just take-take-take, then bitch about what they're given.

@nta we're actually very similar, home ground is in Albert park, which means in a normal year we dont get pre season on our ground or the first few rounds as the grandstands for the F1 are up, last year was really good because they cancelled it

Think theyre looking for a couple of million to build this pavillion so could be a long way off 😞

Or you're in a marginal LNP seat ....

Ooft. DA required, architect and everything, no doubt.

Make sure the change rooms will hold 25 adults! The ones we're in at the moment were designed for junior soccer, who were the users of the ground at the time of build a few short years ago :man_facepalming:

Change rooms have 12 hooks, 1 shower, no toilet. Lunacy.
