    Attack Force Z (1981)

Started watching a 1981 movie about an oz based WW2 commando squad, Z force, with Mel Gibson and Sam Neil. Damn, why haven't I heard of this? Well after 14 minutes I'd say because the budget is tiny, the movie is awful, and the score is distractingly amateurish and cheesy.

I really wanted this to be good!

A movie I've watched more times than the production value justifies. Mandatory viewing in one of my old units. It was permanently in the VCR.

Mrs Meldrew saw Last Christmas flicking thru Prime and as she's a sucker for Christmas, Mrs M convinced me to give it a go. Written and produced by Emma Thompson and loosely based on George Michael's music. What an utter pile of rancid horse crap and self-indulgent drivel.

Set in London, it's a really original story about someone finding love over Christmas. You'd think it's be hard to fuck up the feel-good aspects of that, but they did. The only white, male character who isn't gay, an east European refugee fighting to stay in the UK, a transsexual doctor or a Human rights lawyer is a skinhead who screams racist abuse on a tube train. Ironically he may have had the best lines or he was the only one trying to act...

If any suggests watching it, just fucking run.

Kids wanted to watch Home Alone last night. The original with McAuley Caulkin is still a classic and has aged really well. 5 lost gold teeth out of 5 thwarted wet bandits

That actually sounds pretty good. Last Christmas is the only Xmas carol I can actually stand listening to, George did some bangers in the day.

I kind of liked it, never pretended to be much more than a Xmasy musical and I like Emilia Clarke so all good

@victor-meldrew to each their own, as I say I quite enjoyed it, but there are lots of “bad” films I enjoy 🤷🏻♂

    The Hunt

Netflix. Basically a satire about a bunch of liberal elites who create a Hunger Games style setup but targeted at deplorables.

The concept is hilarious because it makes fun of both sides, and then the execution is also great IMHO. Betty Gilpin is hot. Hilary Swank is still hot.

@nta I watched about 10 mins and bailed, but a work colleague said they almost did the same, but it gets better quickly after that, so I might need to re-visit.

    Wrong Turn

I remember this coming to the movies last year just out of first lockdown. I suggested it but the girl wanted to see Tenet. Not sure which is worse to be honest……starts promisingly in typical Deliverance type fashion but gets worse and worse and more and more stupid and when the young dumbasses met the baddies in a formal setting I bailed. Utter shit.

1 lost in the woods out of 5 hillbillies

When I did that I switched on In a Valley of violence

No rating just yet as I haven’t finished but I’m assuming this was a script that someone posted Clint back in the day and it got lost. Ethan Hawke does a bloody good job so far and John Travolta is considerably less annoying than he usually is so provided tiredness isn’t a factor I’ll stick to it.

    Betty certainly is.

Watched this last night and it's worth the time investment.

    Marked for Death (1990) - 5 out of 5

This is it, this is the movie that was made to complete my existence, this is the perfect Steven Seagal movie. This was the first R18 movie I rented by myself from the infamous Milford Video Store when I was 10 years old.

Seagal is a DEA agent who has had too much of losing and throws in this badge - stop right now, you don't give a shit about the plot because it moves so fast in its perfect 90 minutes. He has a black friend from Nam, who is the local football coach whose players are getting addicted to drugs. That's it, you do not need to know more.

This film was exquisitely shot, ridiculously well for a Segal movie. The cinematographer, Ric Waite, shot 48 Hrs, Cobra, Red Dawn, and some oscar faggot drama shit. What a god.

Watch this. The pace is relentless, though after the first 60 minutes it just can't keep up.
