Andrew Dice Clay's The Adventure's of Ford Fairlane.

Imagine if Steven Seagal was a very successful comedian whose career was fading, and he made an action comedy, but after the horrible "every woman desperately wants to fuck him because he's just so cool" shit he let the director (Rennie Harlan) mostly take control.

A truly awful movie that was mildly entertaining despite everything else. Oof.

I assumed Seagal was a comedian based on his movies ?

I haven't seen it for ages, it is decidedly B grade, but I just admit to enjoying the film on a totally juvenile level.

Great seeing footage of Bundy before he got stressed and left the police to become a shoe salesman.

Yeah I have extremely vague memories of sitting round drinking with mates and pissing myself at this.

Definitely more “Cult” than mainstream. I might have to have a re watch ( and possibly hate it )

Dune was pretty cool. I found the start a little bit fragmented as they used all the mystic stuff to backfill the story. But the casting was mint and the vibe and setting was amazing. Really liked the fights and how the shields work. Top marks for how they handled The Voice as well.

Also primo that they only showed the tip of the worm - part 2 is going to be fucking epic. Could be my early onset old man hearing but some of the mixing made it really hard to hear some characters talking.

Absolutely stoked for Villeneuve, and that we'll get to see part 2!!

I reckon you love it. As long as you remember it isn't Oscar worthy

    Silent Night (2021)

Nell, Simon, and their son Art are ready to welcome friends and family for what promises to be a perfect Christmas gathering. Perfect except for one thing: everyone is going to die.

Arguably the weirdest, downright strange movie I've seen in years. Can't say too much without giving away the plot, but pretty well acted, thoroughly enjoyable with some great moments of comedy, impending demise and a bit of a kicker at the end.

4.5 Eraserheads out of 5 Plan 9 from Outer Spaces

Loads of movies aren’t…..and those that are considered Oscar worthy are often absolute shit as well…..I wouldn’t rewatch Monsters Ball, Three billboards, or Argo if you paid me.

I wouldn't rush out to watch Monsters Ball or Three Billboards due to content even though I think they're both good films, but I would for Argo. It's a well made and often fun drama. But I wouldn't watch Shakspeare in Love again but can endlessly watch the film that should have won that year - Saving Private Ryan.

Argo was the Ben Affleck film about smuggling American embassy workers out of Tehran? Enjoyed that one

The other one in a similar period was the Eric Bana one about Mossad taking out the Munich Olympic killers. Enjoyed that too

    @canefan Munich

lots of films where you can tell the acting is very good....but they not fun, where as most of the films i can happily watch time and time again would probably be on a bad films list somewhere

Exactly. Oscars don’t mean shit to me ( says MN5 despite it being extremely possible I’ve completely contradicted myself in another post ). Saving Private Ryan is one of the most re watchable films ever made.

I've never seen it, or Titanic. No interest in either. 1998/99 were terrible for the best movie awards.

I'd re-watch the last two no problem. Woody Harrelson and especially Sam Rockwell are really good in it. Frances McDormand is always a good actor. Argo I've watched heaps and it's surprising how the addition of a beard changed Ben Affleck's acting.
