he was part of the production team wasnt he, and starred in it, and certainly seems in the style that we know of his, so he musta had an influence or drew his inspiration from it?

edit - he was one of the writers.

Yeah, it's the QT film that isn't a QT film. Great though. I like that you think you're watching one particular film genre and then you're not.

The superhero thing is getting a bit overdone at the moment in my view. Seems every week there is a new one out, and I've long since bothered trying to watch them all. It may just be me getting older though.

I think the quality depends on the movie and they're just a genre like any other. I watch a bunch of comedies, a bunch of indies, the odd animated, a bunch of action films etc etc so to me superhero movies are the same. I find some to be not very good, Iron Man 2, Thor x 2 I found boring. Superman was bad, Batman v Superman was better but still not great. But the first Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, Winter Soldier, Deadpool and Civil War I really enjoyed.

Didn't we just do the best QT recently?

I think mine was Inglorious Basterds, Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, Kill Bill 1, Jackie Brown, Django Unchained, Kill Bill 2.

I really enjoyed Hateful 8 but it would probably come after Django but I'd have to watch it again to make an accurate rating. I haven't seen Death Proof but Kill Bill 2 is easily my least favourite in that I didn't flat out enjoy it.

I reckon Jackie Brown is the most underrated, this scene in particular is outstanding SLJ/Tarantino....

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot: A bit of a comedy and drama mix and match starring Tina Fey about reporters in Afghanistan, I thought it was quite good TBH. Bonus Margot Robbie.

Civil war is available on the internet my friend tells me.

He also says it's way better than Avengers 2. The premise of course is a difficult one to pull off but they don't do a horrible job. Although if they had just introduced the twist from the beginning, it would have made it that much easier to buy.

Christoph Waltz carries Inglorious Basterds. Without him it would be quite average. Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown and Reservoir Dogs are my top three.

I think Brad Pitt and Michael Fassbender not to mention a few others here and there would strongly refute that.

The Man From U.N.C.L.E.

Watched it on the plane to Adelaide last week.

The film didn't get a lot of love by the looks of Wikipedia, and it certainly didn't appear on my radar except a brief mention Henry Cavill did on some late night talk show (Graham Norton?).

I thought it was very watchable. Straightforward spy movie for a Cold War era, with nukes, a smooth dude Westerner and fish-out-of-water Russian heavy. Not sure what everyone else was expecting, but I got the spy flick I was after without it taking itself too seriously.

And very, VERY Guy Ritchie. Great music, trademark camera work.

Hmmm, NTA, you discuss U.N.C.L.E yet fail to mention the delectable Alicia Vikander who contributes 2 1/2 of the electrically fried German torturers to this film.

Cavill is better in this than as Superman.

Jungle Book - quite decent for a kids film and not too long - basically an animated film that looks bloody real. Scarlett Johansen plays a snake.

I thought Man from UNCLE tried to be to clever with the retro look and little jokes at the expense of a story.
One of those old tv shows that you remember as quite good in its day but doesn't hold up at all now.
