      Wow - England start on fire!

      Neser and Harris both removed within 15 balls of the resumption - then Buttler - having taken a great catch to get rid of Harris drops an easier one that should have had Smith walking back first ball. Second ball Smith survives an lbw review on an impact umpires call.

      So Buttler pissed on the fire a little bit...

        A bit later - and luckily for Buttler he fishes around in his pocket and finds a Little Lucifer Fire Starter - Robinson gloves Smith down the leg side and Buttler redeems himself taking a very good catch - Smith scored 6 in the meantime.

                Ollie Robinson obviously reads the Fern and me in particular.

                Having bowled a few overs of seam he's reinvented himself as an off spinner! (Exactly what I suggested more seamers should do earlier this year).

                  I wonder how many runs Oz think they need?

                  Warnie seemed to think they'd bat a little bit past tea, which would give them the option of two evening sessions with a new ball in hand - in case they'd need both. Seems reasonable.

                  On the other hand, that leaves less than 4 sessions for England to survive - which might just about be doable if they could survive the evening session relatively unscathed.

                      @higgins Highly unlikely.

                      But, this Aussie attack isn't as fearsome as the one that played in the first test, so if they somehow navigated tonight's session with minimal damage they'd be a chance.

                              @nta Warnie plugging for a declaration now, in case they need Lyon to be their main weapon.

                                As if the slogging didn't already dictate that.

                                If Starc is not fit it'll be a tough 5 sessions

                                  Richardson has a couple of swishes and goes - and Smith doesn't risk Lyon's fingers - declares and England will need 468 to win - or to bat 4 sessions and change to draw.

                                    England can’t rely on Root all the time, he’ll need some support if they’re ANY chance of drawing this even with a depleted Australian attack….and they’ve shown fuck all of that so far. If Root goes cheaply you can absolutely forget it.
