Blight on the game at the moment. Too many players and members of coaching team wired up and getting involved. The refs have enough to do without monitoring them as well.
Aside from the live coaching aspect (which used to be banned didn't it?) they are allowed to run on and slow down the game at every opportunity. Not so bad on TV when there is a chance for a quick replay of something but at the game live it totally wrecks the flow and atmosphere.

I don't get people being worried about live coaching - what's the issue there? Why does it matter? Not like at proper club level the coaches aren't sitting on the sideline talking to players.

Exeter chiefs using American Indian Chief as their symbol, also supporters wearing faux Indian headdress. Not like Celtic Exeter had its own chiefs it could use!

I'm not sure it is easily managed, but my worry is the more we see it, the fewer minutes the ball will actually be in play, or the longer the game will take.

I'd say leave it to the refs to keep the game running, but that's not been the greatest solution thus far.

I'm pretty sure Wasps haven't signed up any actual Wasps.

As @Machpants said. For probably around 100 years Exeter's first team were referred to as the Chiefs with the Braves being the second team. A few years back they re-branded themselves as the Exeter Chiefs, about the same time as the Leicester Tigers (always been known as Tigers due to their striped jerseys), Sale Sharks, Newcastle Falcons etc. The supporters have taken on this branding and many wear native american headdresses a la the 1950s US western film style. Then there is the moronic chant referred to as the Tomahawk Chop.

Wasps had decided, at board level, to question the suitability of all this in the run up to the game. The issue had been raised "by one of our supporter groups" and therefore "shouldn't be ignored". If the issue is that important why wait until the week before the game to bring it up? Why not air this at the AGM of Premiership Rugby?

Disregarding for a moment the aspect of possible cultural appropriation, it smacks of having a go at disruption before the game. Political shit-stirring.

And the two waterboys in question (actually coaches) have been charged. By the RFU rather than the judiciary I think.

What has happened at Wasps since they have taken John Mitchell onto their coaching staff? In the first round of the Guiness European Rugby Champs last weekend they got absolutely pumped at home by Munster who were missing heaps of first choice players and had not played a game in about six weeks. Admittedly the Brad Shields red carding was something only Monsieur Poite thought was a good idea and it was a big factor but seriously they looked almost clueless in their attacking plans.

Seven Saffas in the starting lineup for Sale in their match kicking off against Wasps this morning, and another in the reserves.
                      https://www.flashscore.com/match/zF2GJwk3/#match-summary/lineups
Either there aren't enough Poms to go round up Manchester way or maybe the Saffa players represent better value for money.
We think we have it tough over here on ticket prices well to get a main stand adult ticket for this match will set you back 42 quid

It’s becoming very expensive in the UK to watch rugby live now. On my way to the Exeter v Bristol game now with my £39 standing ticket in my pocket. Looking forward to paying £6 for a pint and more for pasties. My mate has just taken out a debenture for a seat in the new stand. £5k loan for 10 years. No interest paid snd a miserly 5% discount on the match tickets

Look who is still running around up north, it's none other than Aleki Lutiu of 2003-6 Chiefs vintage. Doing well, obviously as a prop nowadays, to still be fronting up on the bench this morning for Ampthill as they dumped London Scottish 36 - 17 in the Pommy Div 2 Championship.

                                    WTF!

Now you know how they can afford high salaries for their players

@nzzp Here is something about the owners wealth. admittedly it is a couple of years old and some of them have since sold up and moved on but gives you an indication of what resources are behind the clubs.

Salary cap is now 5 million plus 2 (I think) no limit players. France is twice as much, not sure about Japan if there is one?

Not quite as simple as that. It was more but is being cut by 1 million for next year and this sudden reduction is unsurprisingly causing problems. Also you’re allowed 1 (previously 2) marquee signings which do not count towards the cap. You get a 50% (I think) reduction if a player has come up through your academy. So the 5M cap is not necessarily the actual limit on the payroll. The changes are resulting in quite a lot of movement and I’d expect some to go to France and Japan in the near future.

Was not the best game but was a great atmosphere. Beer in 2 pint mugs. One for each half😁

Sounds great, I was meant to be in Wales/England this time 3 years ago, basically wanted to catch some club stuff, but broke my leg in Italy on the way, so am kind of hoping to head over in 3 years (covid permitting, so may want to meet up for a beer!
