He did bloody well bearing in mind drummers and singers seem to be the ones that crap out first……I remember Ian Gillan from Deep Purple missing the high notes when I saw them live, Mike Patton from Faith no More can’t hit the notes he used to and Bill Ward got replaced in Sabbath for a younger drummer in his 30s.

Dennis Wilson made one of the best albums of the 70s, but he's probably best known as the Beach Boy who was in debt to Charles Manson.
There's a story that during the filming of 1971's Two Lane Blacktop (a genuinely great film) he was so gone that he believed that he'd been sold an anti-gravity device, that he could put in his glove-box and ascend to the heavens if he was ever stopped by the police.

I got McCartney's Lyrics for Christmas and that came out quite clearly. But there was a fair bit of collaboration in tidying up songs or telling each other what worked or not.
E.g Macca wrote Hey Jude and wanted to ditch the line "The movement you need is on your shoulder.". After playing it to Lennon, he said to leave it in as it was a great line for the song - so it stayed.

In terms of how the songs sounded, they must have all provided input as they were a band first and foremost. McCartney has said his bass lines were heavily influenced by Ringo's input and vice-versa

Think you're right. Came across an interview with Harrison & Ringo in the late '80's where they both said they always remained good mates who enjoyed working together until the end - and still hooked up whenever they could.

Interesting book as I’ve mentioned on here before. I think it’s pretty damn awesome that three of the four toured very recently. I did feel sorry for Bill Ward though, he was an incredible drummer.

Took me longer than it should have to figure out the drummer was singing.

Yeah, they were brilliant... thought the lead singer was very good on the drums as well.
