    Ozark

Finished watching Pt 1 of S4, so only 7 more episodes to go whenever Pt 2 airs. This is one of the best Netflix shows in recent years. Julia Garner is just brilliant as Ruth.

One episode down of season four and I remain convinced that children only exist to ruin everything.

    Big fan of Martin Freeman

He's so bloody versatile eh - pretty much kills it in whatever role he plays. From corrupt FBI Agent to repressed, frustrated dad with a little dabble in the depths of Mordor. Pretty much can't miss anything he's in these days.

Wendy can do that all by herself. I do like how the arcs of the main characters have continually changed from S1.

    Dopesick

Not an easy watch by any stretch of the imagination, but a really fucking good one

You will be at different times sad, disillusioned, horrified, and very very angry.

Yeah, every so often you get a programme where the bad shit is easy to see coming but it’s still hypnotising to watch. A great performance. The young female smackhead character is infuriatingly spot on too.

    Brilliant show. Just so realistic.

@crucial Yeah, it’s gone to some dark places. What an actor. You can see the thoughts running through the character’s mind. I’ve always liked Freeman but never dreamed he had a performance like this in him.

I caught a little bit of him as a guest on Graham Norton talking about this and he was so concerned about his scouse accent sounding like a parody that he used it as his normal speak for a year or so ahead of filming.

On another note the guy has great taste in music (search out his old Motown documentary on youtube) and has collaborated on a few compilation albums that are often my go to background music

The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window (netflix)

Really dark crime comedy with a load of satire. First episode is a bit slow as it sets the scene, but it really gets going after that. Bloody great.

@victor-meldrew we watched that Over the weekend too, loads and loads of satire, almost gets close to “scary movie” kind of piss taking

Did very much enjoy it though, always liked kristen bell

    Maybe spoilers 🤷🏻♂

Was expecting one more big twist, that she was imagining it all and she was in hospital or something, just because she was always reading those books, and things like the message on the headstone changed, and some of the lines…the really pointed satire we’re just laid on a bit thick

Interesting. The reviews I have read have been scathing.

Wife thought it looked interesting so we got halfway through the first episode until we moved on to something else.

    @kiwiwomble

I've only watched 2 episodes but am liking it a lot. My sense of humour is dark so it appeals to me for that and I like the satire on stereotypes and society.

(I'm a big fan of the earlier Midsomer Murders seasons which really took the piss out of Home Counties UK)

The first episode sets the scene, the second episode really kicks things off. There's a reference to Silence of the Lambs which is comic genius.

Mind you most of the reviews I have read on Apple TV+'s 'Afterparty' have been really positive but I couldn't get into it at all. Obvious American humour with every joke spelled out. Only difference is that there is 'cussing'

She has hair that looks like two minute noodles though.

Just started season 4. Interested to see what happens but I can already sense a bit of a case of ‘don’t really care’ because every single main character is so unlikable.

Granted I haven’t run a drug cartel and don’t have first hand experience but I find it utterly ridiculous the Mexicans didn’t kill Darlene a couple of seasons ago.

Pleased I took your advice. Definitely gets better and worth persevering with. 👍

The Great - My wife pointed out last night that the Emporor is played by the geeky kid from About a Boy, and now I can't stop seeing him. Great character though

He does turn into a beast and he does slay a giant or two.
