fingers crossed for you both it actually arrives by year-end. And that you like it (nb there are UK reviews of it, most compare it favourably to the ID3 but there are some quirks). Mechanically I don't think it is a performance monster at all but that might not be an issue (personally I don't need Tesla-level acceleration). Dealer support/parts in NZ/Oz might be a concern too, even if supported by mother VW, and I wonder what the warranty might be.

Dealers will be shitty - as usual - that they can't make their money back on servicing for many EVs.
Hyundai in Sydney had 1 dealership in Ryde that dealt with the Ioniq (the old version), which was inconvient unless you lived nearby. Fuck going to Ryde. The flipside is EVs have a lot less moving parts so the servicing intervals and potential faults are a bit lower.
Still, I've never seriously looked at grey importing an EV for those reasons i.e. you're on your own, and Joe Mechanic can't help you.
Nissan at least take it half seriously. I would have liked to get a Leaf+ for the wife bar the hailstorm that quashed those ideas. The Ariya might be worth a shout.

Yeah I've heard bad things about VW dealers but hey they are car dealers!
My problem with the leaf is their outdated ideas on battery thermal management but frankly otherwise it should be the ideal car for us, great reliability record, all my Leaf-driving friends love their car, won't worry the wife with high tech palava, and easy for her to park. Plus I've been a passenger in one and it is quiet and comfortable for suburban trips. But that battery...One concern with Nissan, once they merged/shared with French partners, their fabled reliability went a little downhill (and they invented the Tiida) but did I mention the reliability reputation of the Leaf? Yes I did..

The researchers found that quacks were less startling and could contribute to road safety by being less distracting to drivers.
Isn't the whole point of a car-horn to get attention (ie: startle) - generally for the purposes of "WTF! Look around you, you fluffybunny, I'm right here!"
Edit: thinking about it - I guess 80% of the times a car-horn is used, it isn't actually used for the correct purpose... and yeah - should be quietened down so the stupid fluffybunnies using it for "I'm in a queue of cars, and don't know why it's not moving, so I'm gonna make some noise!"

not sure if/when the base Enyaq will hit NZ (but advertised online I think?) but I'd guess in Australia this coupe variant would get a second look, not sure rear seat headroom but boot space is still nothing to criticize and it is a darn bit faster than the base car thanks to better drag. might not be the right thread...but i have noticed the Vic has finally embraced electric scooters, gave one a go yesterday, more so it was set up if needed than anything, was fun although not cheap

@antipodean for sure, was talking to the wife, for me i think its going to be more a case of if/when we go back to work, if my choices are ride the tram with your face in someone armpit on a 40 degree day or "scoot" down the dedicated bike path the whole way, i might give that a go

Interesting test this - things I took out of it was if you are a skier/snowboarder, get a roof box.
If you can't be bothered watching the whole thing (which is long), go to 19:22 and you can see the battery used over 10miles/estimated range for each of the situations tested (fuck having a caravan).
