For sure, he know all about that, and wrote about that. However in LotR world, all elves are fair skinned, all. There were no svart elves, only too awesome for human fair skinned ones. I’m pretty sure that svart elves are synonymous with dwarves
Tokenism not Tolkienism /dad joke

1 LOTR - Not so simple https://askmiddlearth.tumblr.com/post/74939141559/dark-elves
I do wonder if the films have created an idea of elves that isn't so clear in the books.2 This new series, I believe, is based on the Silmarillion more than LOTR
3 the skin colour isn't given much emphasis in Tolkien but various fans have been harping on about hair colour and it seems pretty clear that Elves can have dark hair and some have lighter skin than others, more obv. in the Sim..
4 " I’m pretty sure that svart elves are synonymous with dwarves" despite what it says in Quora (and there is some overlap with "darkened by soot") in Nordic mythology no it is not so clear..
Regards Nordic myths, the mythical blond/e or redhaired Viking is likely influenced by slaves from Ireland/Scotland and Viking DNA reveals and many strands from S Europe/Asia, and Viking was more a lifestyle than an ethnicity (a Danish scientist said this not me).. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2020/09/200916113544.htm
Right, this is risking a wormhole of DNA, redhaired Thor arguments, and LOTR fanpages. Happy for you to disagree. I should get back to my real job.

It's not a science or history thing, apart from the history of ME. I've read the silmarilion, and the huge History of Middle Earth, and the 3 more recent books. All descriptions of elves are fair skinned, so adding in real world science or politics is irrelevant to ME lore. I not saying Neolithic Danes weren't brown skinned, or that there weren't dark skinned creatures in European myths. I'm stating that Tolkien described elves as fair skinned consistently throughout all his works. The elves of darkness were a description those who didn't go to Valinor, they didn't complete the journey. It was nothing to do with skin colour, Legolas and the Silvan elves are technically 'dark elves'.
Tolkien was a product of his time and wrote about white peoples, mostly. If the peoples/creatures were anything other than fair/white, that was always mentioned.

Magpie Murders on Britbox
Clever mystery with a plot revolving around a book plot. Time shifting keeps you thinking but not too much - perfect winter evening viewing. No boobs though. 8/10.

Just finished season one Peacemaker. Did not take itself seriously and was fun throughout, actually enjoyed watching John Cena throughout for a change in this role. Not sure if it was all CGI or whether two actors actually turned up, as didnt watch credits, but great justice league crossover for one joke
No plot spoliers though, ok just a little
4 alien butterflies out of 5 klan members

Finished Reacher, good fun watch eh, keeps ya interested despite the ridiculousness.
Just one question. Is he a good shooter or a bad shooter? Baffling consistency with a handgun.
Good shooters become terrible shooters if they’re shooting at bad guys who are needed for next season.
Case in point Negan from the walking dead. Everyone missed him.

Only 3 alien butterflies out 5 Klan members for me. Good fun show, but maybe the overhyping in some quarters, contributes to my lower rating of it.
You mean were the actors on set or did they film their scenes elsewhere?

Is that bloody show still going and is Negan still around?

Don’t know and don’t care. I gave up after his constant survival.
Damn shame, the first few seasons were awesome viewing.

I'd suggest it's much cheaper to pay an actor than to CGI them, plus if they were CGI then the other two would have spoken as well.

For those interested Slow Horses is premiering on Apple TV+ on 1 April.
Slow Horses - as in Slough House?
If so... awesome. For some reason, that feels like something Apple could make a good job of (said through gritted teeth, I fucking hate Apple, but they've done some good telly). -

Ozark
Finished watching Pt 1 of S4, so only 7 more episodes to go whenever Pt 2 airs. This is one of the best Netflix shows in recent years. Julia Garner is just brilliant as Ruth.
Garner was truly exceptional in last episode. Another Emmy beckons.
I SO want Wendy to come a cropper!
Ruth really got stroppy didn’t she ?
Cool hearing this banger at the end too

@kruse Gary Oldman and Kristin Scott Thomas in the cast bodes well.
Didn't Gary Oldman do Smiley recently too? Typecasting himself a bit in his later years.
Although, has he changed his body shape for each part? Going from Smiley to Jackson Lamb in a few years... that'd take some pies. -
@bones I finished last night, enjoyable series, most of the fight scenes you could give some latitude that they were believable, only one I thought was BS was the one in the house and the beat down he took the tyre iron from the weedy little dude...
Is Reacher meant to be on the spectrum? I liked his dead pan one liners but some made me wonder.
