A couple of big overs, but India's total lack of intent for the first 40 overs has come back to bite them...

    Amelia Kerr on a hattrick...

    That second wicket was awesome.

Kiwi girls were doing pretty well against OZ until Gardner arrived. She's currently 32 off 12. A crazy strike rate in this competition. OZ currently 253-7 in the 49th.

Wellington just got run out at the Basin Reserve. Though that leaves Gardner on strike who is killing it - 40 off 16 now.

Gardner dropped (it was a sitter) on 40 and runs two while it's in the air. She then hits a six off the final ball ending up with 48 off 18. What a beast.

OZ finished up with 269 for 8.

We probably ended up chasing a respectable score considering the class above that Oz side is. Made them battle early which kept the score in check enough that we aren’t chasing over 300.
That was some scoring rate from Gardener

And anyone playing Australia will have to deal as well.

Well done Australia,a very very good cricket side

We are nowhere near their class and abilities.
Our only hope is that no one else is either.

    Rubbish from Jensen.

These last three really need to support Satterthwaite to try to minimize the damage.

Somehow scrape to a hundred run defeat.

But, Rowe immediately ignores my instructions and lobs a simple catch to short cover! 🙂

Tahuhu pulling a Lance Cairns would also be handy!

I guess if we can scrape our way into the top half of the draw we still have a chance of jamming our way through two knockout games...

It's interesting having a World Cup with only eight teams... Bob Carter took over the coaching role two and a half years ago from a relatively divided dressing room. His win-loss record with the White Ferns has been poor, and he's made a couple of interesting selections at times... yet he still has a starters chance of being a World Cup winning coach if the Ferns can put a couple of top drawer performances together at the right time.

    (And ideally avoiding Australia...)

Sadly, I was expecting a result like this. The big win in the warm-up game gave us false hope. Probably need to beat both SA and England to avoid Aust in a SF.

Witg the greatest respect to the Australian team ,
Some of shots the Kiwi team were playing looked like something you would see watching social cricket down at your local park ..
Is this more of an indightment on the local game ..?

Absolutely. Huge difference between the two countries with one being well paid full time professionals (players and staff) the other cobbled together with players that stand out among poor competition

Absolute shocker, lack of concentration & focus really cost NZ - we bowled well until the last 10 overs, then fed the Aussies too much loose bowling where they scored over 100 runs in that period, the batting was atrocious... need to have a big change of mindset if they're going to have any chance of making the top 4.
