    Bit of a shock result last night. Portugal drew with Georgia, with the latter coming back from behind.

    You have to laugh at the Scottish Broadcasting Corporation or BBC as it is more usually known.

    Headline on the women’s international being played:- Scotland Strike Back against England. Actual score? 5-31 after 30 minutes.

    @catogrande They struck back pretty well, limiting the Poms to scoring just another 26 points in the remaining 50 minutes.

    Overall an improvement in the later stages of the game, showing the superior fitness of the Scots girls.

    A really good article by the excellent Nick bishop on rugby pass, need to subscribe. But key point about the two best sides, but both succeed with their style

    Here are some of highlight raw stats:

    France kicked for the most metres per game (1084m) and Ireland the least (691m). Even within the kicking game itself, Les Bleus finished top in long kicks (79) and Ireland bottom of the table with 47.
    Ireland made the most carries (139) and passes (211) per game, and set the most rucks (105). France made the fewest carries (99) and passes (115) while setting the lowest number of rucks (72 per game).
    Ireland enjoyed the highest time in possession (over 20 minutes per game) while France had the lowest in the competition at 16-and-a-half minutes.
    Ireland achieved the highest proportion of lightning-quick (one to three second) ball at 69 per cent, while France had the lowest ratio (40 per cent).

    Ireland v France: Is it better to play with or without the ball?

    Ireland v France: Is it better to play with or without the ball?

    France and Ireland have adopted very different strategies throughout this year's Six Nations championship.

    @machpants

    Interest stats. The trouble is from an English POV is that Percentage Eddie would take that as kicking wins games, end of. Sure France kicked a lot but kicked well, chased well, didn’t generally kick when in the opposition half and certainly not when anything was on.
