Just finished season 4 of The Last Kingdom - had no idea they were going beyond s3 tbh
It's a good watch. Kind of like Vikings-lite and I started it years ago because of the Bernard Cornwell books.
Season 5 dropping next week I'm told by Google
Been watching Season 5 and am 6 episodes in. Not bad and the fighting scenes remain pretty good. A few quibbles though. The CGI for the wider shots is laughable in some cases and the dialogue is often quite clunky. It seems to me that the further they stray from the source material the poorer the storyline becomes and they add unnecessary dialogue to explain what is going on. Disappointing but I will persevere.
Agree with all the above. I enjoyed it for the most part, being a sucker for historical fiction in all its forms, but a few things bugged me.
The continued reliance on "I'm going to be a compulsive dickhead no I'm not yes I am" from Edward wore a bit thin.
Everyone looking on horrified like it was 2020 instead of 920 while troops were sent into battle to die.
Some of the dialogue was stilted, to be kind.
The last complaint: people didn't age. Aelswith looked the same age the entire way through, and only in the last few episodes did they have a crack at giving her a few gray hairs. -

It's like how they all have perfect teeth and gym bodies.I am always amazed by the different travel speeds necessary to keep the plot moving. Some characters can seemingly teleport while others take weeks to travel a shorter route.

Game of Thrones was always good for that.

Pieces of Her
Started pretty compelling and then really lost it’s way and had an underwhelming finale. ( I caught the end after missing a couple of episodes )
It’s also pretty hard to take seriously a bunch of actors who I know to be very Australian trying to be Americans. Not to mention it didn’t help when the younger selves in flashbacks looked and sounded NOTHING like their older selves.
Quite crap. Would not recommend.

Really enjoyed it

@mikethesnow yeah I might go with that rather than the guy who missed episodes before the end and found the end lacking.
-
I actually thought the denouement was one of the better parts.

denouement
you know i don't speak frenchie
You barely speak English. That was meant for Mike. I tagged you as a courtesy.
Wasted.

Are you assuming
bendersorry, gender? -
@catogrande said in TV Serieseseses:
Yeah a lack of attention to detail and maybe cutting corners in comparison to earlier seasons. A bit too happy ever after ending too.
Having started Vikings: Valhalla, the difference is stark

Vikings was great at first but went downhill IMO. Jumped the shark with the battle for York with hiding in non existent sewers and the Saxon army having uniform armour from 200 years in the future. Add in a disjointed non-sensical storyline and I lost interest. Vikings Valhalla just carries on from there.

Iup to episode 5 now and really liking it but HOLY FUCK this is one of the most annoying and bizarre pieces of television I've ever seen. It's absurd, what the fuck were they thinking? Is it on purpose?
Edit: I do like that there's now a budget Christian Bale to go with budget Tom Hardy.

Just finished episode 4 and, like you, enjoying it. Not finding it bizarre, just a touch formulaic so far and a bit easy to guess what's coming next. Hopefully that changes in the later episodes.
Need to concentrate on the flashbacks and guess who the character is supposed to be as @MN5 points out, it can be hard to connect the younger characters to the older selves

How can you like something if it’s annoying and bizarre ?
