The Adam Project
Pretty damn cool movie! If you like Reynolds and his style, humour, Sci fi, some good feels, this has em all!

13 Hours: The secret soldiers of Benghazi
I vaguely remember the incidents in Libya that the movie was based on. Its Michael Bay, so there was a lot of action. To me it was very well done and captured the tension of the incident and imparted it on the viewer effectively, in a similar way to another favourite of mine Black Hawk Down. 4 firefights out of 5 bands of lawless locals

Close and Ava
Two female led movies from Netflix, one revolves around a personal security agent (Close) with issues, the other revolves around an assassin with issues.
I quite enjoyed Close, there was some brutal action, but it didn't seem to generate the tension it could have.
Ava features an all star cast (Farrell, Malkovich and Chastain, along with a support role for Geena Davis), had the potential to be really good. But both films suffer from a failed attempt to delve into the issues affecting their main characters.
Both get 3 lady killers out of 5 unnecessary personal issues
Bloodshot
Where do I begin? I was scanning movies on Netflix and Mrs CF, a Vin Diesel fan, was keen to give this one a crack. Soldier brought back from the dead, becomes a super soldier, bones there for a good cheap whizz bang film? The Chinese characters in the early credits made me nervous and so it was. This appeared to be a film financed by a Chinese production company who think that if you fill the movie with enough John Woo style slo mos and scarcely believable CGI stunts it makes for a good one. Sadly no. Vin mails it in, Guy Pearce tries hard, and there is a hawt female lead. But the story is so weak, and the attention to detail also let the film down. A chase scene in London streets that looks suspiciously like suburban Melbourne complete with an aussie looking SUV style cop car and police in Aussie cop uniforms? It was a couple of hours of my life I won't get back.

Spot on reviews of all three.
The only thing I failed to mention was that Chastain looked good in that ball gown and her singlet tops
Very Jessica Rabbit

Funnily enough I've always wanted to make an edit of this film as a straight up wall to wall action movie instead of the original bloated version.
To be clear, I enjoyed it, I just think there was a better tight action movie in there.
I think I made it through 30 minutes of Bloodshot and then gave up.

Blackhawk Down is a great war films about things going to shit. Others I've liked with similar things going pear shaped fighting are The Siege of Jadotville and The Outpost.

Odd one. I didn’t think it was a particularly good film but I still enjoyed it. Probably due to the historical context

Spiderman - No Way Home
Excellent movie, even at 2.5 hours long, great seeing all the old faces too.
4.5 I'm Peter Parkers out of 5 He's Peter Parker
Spiderman - No Way Home
I don't think they needed to make to that long, the story was dragged out near the end with all the bro love and long drawn out emotional scenes that didn't need to happen.Well put together though and great links to all those who came before him, great respect to how a multiverse could play out, which made for a fun movie still
I also like how they linked Venom to New York like the comics as well, and potentially how they would do it.

It's the liberties taken with the characters and their involvement that shat me. An issue with being intimately familiar with the topic. Something I can't say about The Great Raid, which was a favourite in the Antipodean household growing up.

Both were great stories but not very well told/acted. Plus with the Great Raid, the one weak link just had to be played by a non-seppo

One of the best movies of the last 5 years easy
Watched it with Mrs Meldrew tonight. Only realised it was a Clint film when the opening credits came on.
Great recommendation from you guys - outstanding.

I might watch it even if the great man is behind the camera as opposed to in front of it !

Zombieland and Zombieland: double tap
I enjoyed these both. Good mindless fun, a cast including the hawt Emma Stone, Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson and the girl from Little Miss Sunshine. Lots of laughs, lots of cameos, 4 twinkies out of 5 zombie clowns

Zombieland and Zombieland: double tap
I watched Double Tap earlier in the week. Not as good as the original but fun.
The actress who played Madison is hawt although she looks much better as a brunette. Her mother is Lea Thompson.
