Best kiwi movie I've seen, Curtis puts on an incredible performance.
-
Saw Ted 2 the other day. Thought it was way better then the original - seemed a lot more like Seth's writing with lots of funny one liners.

Battleship

Mindless, gibbering, macho U-S-A! U-S-A! fun. I had to miss parts of it due to domestic duties, but it didn't matter.

There is nothing more awesomely stupidly awesome than seeing someone pulling the naval equivalent of a handbrakey with a 45,000 ton WW2 battleship, before slamming a full broadside into an alien submathingy.

Beautiful, sweet, giving-no-fucks madness.

I give it 5 ridiculous plot lines out of 5, because it had approximately zero.
-

Went to see Eddie the Eagle, lots of heart warming amusement, very enjoyable film

13 Hours, Secret Soldiers of Benghazi...supposedly based on a true story, but with Michael Bays direction, me thinks there were alot of liberties taken, plenty of US bravado...that being said, I did like it, plenty of guuns, explosions a bit of tension and being a true story I just knew Optimus Prime wasnt gonna save the day this time!
-

I love that film . It's just stupid and doesn't pretend to anything but.

Also if all physios were that hot they'd be very very very busy. -

I'm keen to see 13 hours, the timing of the release sucks for Hillary Clinton. -

I love the "Have you ever seen a movie with a black guy in it? That's him"
-

Super

This is a little film with Rainn Wilson (US version of The Office) and the delightful Ellen Page.

It was kind of shit at parts, showing its production values, but overall I thought it was a great look into the mind of a guy who is a social numpty and finally just has enough of taking shit. Page was just a fucking psycho.

Easy to see why they had trouble getting money and/or distribution help with this one, but I thought it was OK. They had no trouble getting a few names together, and it was shot in about a month I believe? Not a bad effort. Certainly has the ability to be a bit cult.

3 Kevin Bacons out of 5.
-

A Tom Cruise trio.

Days of Thunder: dull as dishwater, even the racing stuff. Shit plotline that tried to be Top Gun-esque, but failed in every way.

Vanilla Sky: Penelope Cruz was hot, but I'm not really a Cameron Diaz fan, and Tom's character was such a smarmy asshat I maybe cheered when he plummeted off the bridge.

Collateral: By far the best of the three. Tom was actually quite a good villain, and Jamie Foxx bounced off him well. Decent plot too.
-

Directed by James Gunn and I assume helped him land the Guardians of the Galaxy - so has a bit of pedigree.

Now You See Me 2: Crazily plotted but watchable. A Woody Harrelson, Jesse Esineberg and Dave Franco out of Four Horseman and Mark Ruffalo.
-

Haha = that's a crack up - although it's a bit of an effort to try to figure it out from that link at first.

In slightly related movie news apparently Alicia Vikander was 10 pin bowling in Darling Harbour on Monday. I walk through Darling Harbour every lunchtime. That Michael Fassbender is lucky I only found this out today as he may have found his lunch cut. ;)
-

That was the first movie where I actually thought Tom could act. His portrayal of Vincent was excellent.

Watched The Dark Horse last night. Genuinely good.
-

Crocodile Dundee 2. Not as good as the original, but still had quite a few laughs and just an awesome 80's ness about it that make it totally worth a watch.

The "if Mick wants his clothes back" scene still makes me laugh.

Took itself a bit more seriously than the first one but still some great humour. Probably worth another watch now I think about it. I remember my Mums Womans Weeklys had stories of how Hogan dumped his wife for the chick he starred with, talk about an upgrade haha
-
