@mariner4life Any players named that could potentially need replacing as they're not eligible this year? Surely they checked Nanai's arrival date to be certain. 😉

The Warriors are deadset fucking cooked. Pea hearted, dumb, and pretty much talentless. Not a player on the squad worth turning up to watch.

Brown is fucked and needs to go. His biggest crime? (besides being a proven failure who is delivering exactly what we all expected) is picking SJ every week despite all the evidence that he just does not want to be there.

But the problems are so much deeper than the coach and the players. The organisation is fucked. The owner comes across as just a fucking piston wristed gibbon of epic proportions (anyone who refers to themselves as an alpha male is a deadshit). The football department is stuck in groundhog day with its decision making.

If the club decides to make a change, they will do what they have always done:
Pick a failed coach who is on the merry-go-round
Sign a bunch of offcasts from other failed clubs, or guys looking for 1 last contract. All of these players will be old, and lacking in any creative spark
Expect to build something off this.

The joint is absolutely cooked, lacking in any sort of plan, or positive identity. It's proves how little Australia gives a fuck about the Warriors that they are not under the torch pretty much full time. We play turgid football even when we are "on" and it takes fuck all to throw the team "off" and when that happens they fall in a heap.

The lack of public accountability around this fucking organisation is yet another damning stain on the NZ sports media that just straight up refuses to be critical of anyone.

Nice rant but I think there are a few players on that squad that people will turn up to watch, some are injured or out of form but there are some for sure that you would watch whether they be a Tohu, Curran, AFB, even Walsh on form.

..however I do agree with most of the rest of it. Payten was one of the few in his short time who managed to get the team to defend when they got behind and stay in the fight. Most of the coaches haven't. Which is why I rated him highly in his short time, even if they didn't have many wins. He has since shown that if you stick with him he can really change a team although most continued to say he was terrible until it was time to get on the band wagon.

The owner showed last week that it is terrible at the top and his attitude and lack of understanding of financial implications of what he did, was just as brainless. I also hope you heard wrong about Toovey as that would again be the wrong way to go. There are no too many coaches worth going after, but the warriors need someone who can also change the culture and attitude. I could only think of about two sets worth going after who are not coaching first grade.

I think getting to NZ finally will help a lot of players, however how many mentally may have tapped out before then is the question.

They need a massive reset though for sure.

Liam Martin over Angus Crichton and no JAC were the biggest upsets in there. Suaalii is not there to play, so not really an upset.

I guess for now Haas with stay with the broncos, as you need a club to play origin apparently

i suspect this is why he's on the bench, the least disruption if forced to pull out

Like Slater rubbishing underdog tag. He's there to win. Be interesting to see what he's learned off Bellamy

@Dice I don't mind the starting 13 although I thought maybe Graham or Lomax ahead of Wighton at centre and bench looks unbalanced. No Nicho floating either on that bench is a miss.

I dont mind the Qld team though, although they would be hoping Ponga finds some form, rest of it looks strong

As I don't watch much non Warriors (TBF or Warriors) league these days, is Tupou really the best wing NSW has got? Dude has made a decent career out of sort-of-looking-like Folau.

So you’re saying this isn’t their year after all then ?

@MN5 I am never one to say it is their year I dont think I have even been ,confident with them even in 2002, but it clearly isn't 🙂 lol

There have been some sensational lows over the years which obviously outnumber the highs, but as mariner said there are worrying signs at owner and coach level that if no attempt to change (injuries aside) suggest this could get much worse.

As I don't watch much non Warriors (TBF or Warriors) league these days, is Tupou really the best wing NSW has got? Dude has made a decent career out of sort-of-looking-like Folau.

Yes, especially given who he is marking

Almost impossible to score over him with a kick. Also one of the best wings in the comp at getting you out of your end. Teams kick to him even though you won't win the ball simply so he doesn't get the first hit up.

And he's a dangerous scoring threat of his own. Not a winger to break a game open but he's really fucking good

Tupou still has it. Mr Reliable on both sides of the ball and as mentioned, plays like an extra forward when getting out of your own half. Geez the Warriors would break the bank for a guy like him…

It will be interesting who makes the NSW 17 with a few surprises on there.

@mariner4life Always makes me laugh when I hear people go on about how over rated he is. The guy is doing everything for the Knights with bugger all help. All their tries come through him, it's not his fault he's playing with crap players.

@bayimports I think they might switch Crichton and Wighton around come gameday. They'll need a bit of aerial help on To'o's side.

and then surely the rissole the wildly overrated Wighton altogether for Hynes

I see Ray Warren has finally officially retired. Voice of League for me. Up there with other legendary commentators I reckon.

Wonder if he will call Origin one final time?
