@Canes4life I know nothing about Keil-Schwenke but Strang is still only 20 himself.

I really hope they're not going for the North-South split. Provinces being in one pool with the same other provinces every year is boring. If they want two pools, split them based on table position at the end of the round robin of the previous year: 1, 3, 5 etc in one division pool, 2, 4, 6 etc in the other.

I'd also like to see an equivalent to the Lochore Cup in the Heartland comp, so that the provinces that will realistically never make the Cup semi-finals, still have a piece of silverware to play for. Or make it Cup, Plate & Bowl, like in sevens.

Yes brilliant, Lochore and meads cup style split sounds good, if it could be made to work.

Joel Lam is a HB was in the NZ under 20s but didn't get much game time.

Harford is a First Five a lot like Burke style player.

@Chris Speaking of Canterbury halfbacks named Joel. Joel Parry was the back-up halfback to Noah Hotham in the NZ Schools team. Played for STAC. He has not kicked on?

@Stargazer Moody? I thought he was out for the year.

Still a very strong squad after removing current ABs (and those that may yet be selected)

@Crucial Contracted players are usually named in the squad, even if they're ruled out for the season due to injury or ABs. The Magpies had the same last year with Fakatava and Walker-Leawere injured, and Retallick and Weber in the ABs.

Edited to add that there may be an extra player named in the squad as injury replacement.

Why would you put light towers in those positions blocking the view?

Probably will be for Dunshea who may not play the NPC.

@Chris I see manawatu vs Canterbury is the opening game, that fixture holds a lot of meaning to me as I remember back in 2008 being at Jade when either Cruden or Matty James nailed the winning kick to pull off a spectacular upset, young me was taken aback by how much 1 singular win could mean so much!

No Stewart Cruden in the Manawatu squad.

He's in the Evergreens' squad. As a midfielder. So gone from senior squad to development squad, and playing in a different position.

Raymond Tuputupu is also not in the Evergreens. So either he's moved provinces, or he's injured.

Edited to add that several provinces are making announcements about U19 teams or games. In the Hurricanes region, there are the usual seedings games planned that we always had when there was an Jock Hobbs Memorial National U19 Tournment. Maybe the Jock Hobbs Tournament is making a return in 2022?

Anyway, is Ray Tuputupu still young enough for an Under 19 team?

    Question to the Wellingtonians here:
Is the Wellington Centurions squad the development squad of the Lions?

Question to the Ta$man supporters or others in the know:
What is the status of the Nelson Bay Griffins and Marlborough Red Devils squads? Are they just sub-union teams? And what kind of competition do they play in?
