they were worried about degroots fitness...surely if the spot in the squad did little other than train....then that would have been good for Degroot!

        Cards or no cards?

You can’t have both, and moan when it suits you

        Consistency at a minimum. Ffs.

How is that difficult to comprehend?

You're better than this mate. I know you've read most of the thread. We aren't crying foul about the Irish player personally, and that it cost us the game. We just want consistency.

Yeah I still don't get people saying Taavao was a poor little deer in the headlights but Porter had the accuracy of a sniper. I haven't watched it since the test, but I don't think I was the only one that saw Taavao change direction to make the tackle. If you're beaten, you're beaten - that doesn't mean you can be reckless.

I'd say both Ta'avao and Porter should have got a 10 minute red card. Teams down to 14 men for 10 minutes and then replaced by a different player.

As others have pointed above - that's consistency.

But, really, this highlights the foolishness of those advocating for 80 minute red cards. 🙂

Porter saw Ta'avao get red carded for the same offence the previous week. I believe he's been playing with the 80 minute red card rule all year. And yet - it appears he hasn't learned a thing.

Perhaps he plays for "those teams" that are persistently dirty?

Or maybe, the 80 minute red card rule is ridiculous in a game of dynamic collisions in which accidents will continue to regularly happen - but, in the meantime we have to repeatedly watch games turned into mismatches by brain-dead administrators.

Good on Eddie Jones for being a bastion of sense!!!

@Crucial I know it is only the words used, but I hate those accidental collisions being described as 'foul play'

@stodders shock of a headline, Ireland beaten us 3 out of last 4, and they are better than us, colour me surprised 😉

Yeah but look - at what point does it become accidental? I see a lot of people saying red cards should be reserved for dirty play - at what point does a high tackle go from accidental to oh you deliberately tried to take that guys head off?

I think accidental is a problem word

Farting then shitting yourself is accidental

Drinking 10 pints of Worthington Best Bitter followed by a curry feast then farting and shitting yourself is almost inevitable

                        Same goes for rugby

Poor execution, timing, and skills are better descriptors

@MiketheSnow Regardless, you should just throw the underpants in the rubbish bin.

Not throw the shit over everyone else who is enjoying themselves in the pub.

Porter cleared, so fuck who knows. Probably the rule appears to be that the darker your jersey the better your chance of spending some time on sidelines.

He really perfected the Hitman: Agent 47 look quite early on..(edit: that and his role in Night Court).

Was it the same panel that heard Ta’avu’s case? If not, surely it makes sense that the same panel sit for all the matches of a series so that at least there’s an attempt at consistency.

As an Irish fan I thought Peyper, a ref I have very little time for, had not given enough weight to mitigation when he sent off Ta’avu, and that Barnes decision on Porter was correct after seemingly having had a change of mind about mitigation, but for the disciplinary panels to have such a different view of both incidents is really worrying.

It must be the most difficult spot to referee, with so many things happening at such speed simultaneously, but these panels are only looking at one incident with multiple angles with the laws laid out in front of them, and we still get these hugely inconsistent outcomes. WR needs to take a long hard look at the process.
