Yeah - I actually went and researched it, found that the "Rose" character was actually 17... so wondered if it was something about statutory rape... but that would only make sense if the roles were reversed... but it turns out it was all based on an internet nerd-dom inside joke.

Maybe it's not a matter of being old, rather than insular. My only source of new information/'facts'/trends/news/etc - is The Fern. If it's not been on TSF, I'm blissfully ignorant. Now that it HAS been on the Fern, it's unfortunately invaded and occupied a brain-cell or two. So... thanks for that, fluffybunny.
I should probably add a couple of tabs to my "time-wasting" set on work laptop browser... Reuters and AVclub should suffice. -
