If Havili and Tupaea are out I hope Jordie goes to 12 and DMac into squad and 23.
Wonder if we may need to rotate props too. Not quite as energetic last night.

ohh nup can't have Dmac.. when Welly beat HB this weekend we need him for our shield challenge next game 😉

Props - I actually thought DeGroot looked a bit fat and lazy last night. Defo a work in progress. type of guy that's going to blow out to 160kgs when he retires

I'm starting to think that TV/commentators...and even the fern...is part of whats killing my enjoyment of rugby.

re the end....the crowd were all yelling for him to hurry up...was really blatant in real time

I saw a tweet that summed it up nicely for me....if this is the first shot in a war against time wasting...then great, all for it...if this is a random one off implementation of the rules...then its harsh...correct but harsh

some people that i thought played well in real time have been lambasted so once again a fascinating example of how different the game is without replays and commentary

@Kiwiwomble we are just people that are passionate about the game. It’s fine to have a whinge on the Fern, then get over it, it’s part of it. But understand where you are coming from - some balance is good. But in the middle of a game just to much to ask 😀

Read was calling for RTS to start at Eden Park. The reasoning being that he needs to play in a big test to see if he is an option for the future.

I like that option. Trusting the squad selections hasn't been a hallmark of this coaching group so far though.
I'm not sold on Jordie at 12 and think we should be going for the least disruption to the roles that are still being cemented. If RTS has been understudying Havili then give him a go. That way the back three can remain (possibly Reece for Clarke) and BB can stay on the bench.
Moving Jordie causes a decision on who starts at fullback and how the bench works.
RTS/RI combo at least has some time together.
We have one week left before a step back and re-plan for EOYT. No need to get too clever or search for miracles.

RTS hasn’t looked great at NPC level. Defensive misses being key issue.

All Blacks midfielder Quinn Tupaea won’t play rugby again this year after a controversial shot from Wallabies lock Darcy Swain.

Coach Ian Foster said on Friday Tupaea would be sidelined for at least three months after suffering a ruptured medial cruciate ligament in his left knee in Thursday’s Bledisloe Cup win in Melbourne.

He also suffered a partial anterior cruciate ligament tear, Foster said, but he was unsure as to whether Tupaea would need surgery.

this has been the 'downstream impact' of us sucking this year.. kept playing the 'A' team week after week trying to get them to fire.. meant the likes of RTS, Perofeta, fainga'anuku and fakatava haven't had any game time to see if they're the game breakers we think they could be.

@WillieTheWaiter a bit of walking around too from De Groot last night.

I think some have underestimated the physicality of the OZ forwards. Valentini I thought was very good. Samu definitely was a step up physically than the young openside that played against the Boks.

I think it was Koroibete. We scored a few phases after that so it was forgotten about. At the time the ref seemed to ignore it, then it sounded like he was told it was something that should be revisited and then we scored. Unsurprisingly there were no replays of it.

The call was that Koroibete was pushed into the contact accidentally by one of his team mates. I think we had one of those previously (maybe a NH Test?) where a player pulled out of contact but an accidental collision forced them into the zone.

Quite possibly, but I am not sure how you can tell that was the call from the coverage. Did you hear a conversation between the ref and the TMO?

Samu, Veletini (arguably the 2nd and 3rd best players on the field) and Leota had big impacts (admittedly Leota not for too long). Once Cane went off absolutely none of our loose forwards could go with them.
Even McReight was a pest when he got on. The Aussie loosies were really fucking good

I think our tight 5 shaded them though, obviously at hooker, but i thought our props were good as well. Locks definitely beat their opposite numbers.

@WillieTheWaiter similarly Dalton and Sotutu, come in basically cold and get grilled for being out of form.

Rebuilding / development this year has been poor...seems hanging on by a thread has put that aspect on the back burner.

lol, and if they made changes every week they would have been absolutely slaughtered for not trying to build combinations.

Our loosies got owned last night. But if we step back, we were without the first choice 6 and 8, and then lost the 7 early as well. three new loose forwards all at once. No coach would have any expectation of losing everyone in one area at the same time.

And then last night we also lost both of our 12s at the same time. That's quite a lot of shit to overcome at once. And we still won!

I'm still scratching my head about Sotutu's kick. Wtf was he thinking there? He was surrounded by support. He should go the way of 2008 Lauaki for that alone.

But obviously it was incredibly concerning how that 15 vs 13 advantage wasn't exploited. Schoolboy teams would do a better job than that. Add the sometimes shocking defence out wide and you wonder what they're actually doing in training.

@Rancid-Schnitzel I just about woke the kids when he did that. He had link players on both sides and went with the dumb, solo option. We've have applauded him if it had come off, but it was such a low percentage play.

@Kiwiwomble I regularly mute match threads for that reason. Often too negative and too many broken records. Not enough celebrating good things.

Anyone with that haircut has questionable decision making across other facets of life to be fair.

                                        Set piece stats are interesting:

                                        Scrum - OZ 5/6; ABs 2/5
                                        Lineout - OZ 12/14; ABs 13/13.

So overall both sides lost 3 of their set piece ball. Good to see us challenging every one of their lineouts.

couple of those "closing the gap" penalties were harsh i thought considering what the Wallabies were doing on the other side. at least we were having ac rack though
