This may not be a hot take, but I can't be fucked finding the netball thread.

What a stupid sport it is. I can actually handle watching it, but I have to block out the fact that the rules are just completely idiotic. They took a great game in basketball, and decided they'd impose a heap of stupid rules (contact on the ball, wtf???) to invent a new female-friendly game. For what? Daft.

I don't understand the love for basketball. Such a boring game that you could literally just take the last five minutes and watch that.

I used to love playing and watching it as a teenager then fell out of it. However, as my eldest son got older and I was looking at sports to play him in, it's came back in vogue.

I really think it's a great sport for kids to play. Everybody has an opportunity to score points, everybody must contribute to both offence & defence, it's an easy game to practice all by yourself, it's relatively accessible & it's easy to change rules to suit how / where you are playing.

It all goes to shit when you get older and people who are taller have so much of an advantage though.

    Re the bold: Que?

As I said above, to my mind I nd the cool thing about netball is it's the ultimate team sport because you limit who can defend and who can scoter to 2 people each.

It appears we don't agree. Thats ok by me.

Not disagreeing just clarifying your statement the everybody gets to score points. As there's only two allowed to shoot.

    Otherwise thought we agreed.

    Bob Dylan sucks.

I think his singing sucks, but he can write a good song if other people sing it.

    @antipodean

He certainly comes across at times like an asshole but that isn’t exactly an exclusive club

He has definitely written some bangers and is a monumental influence on music of the last 50 years
My unpopular opinion on Dylan is he’s a better melody writer than lyricist. Certainly for the last 40 years his lyrics have been a bit twee

    Nobel prize. Yeah Nah

@MN5 said in The hot takes and unpopular opinions:

Heath Ledger is a massively overrated actor.

Classic case of someone dying young and being lauded far beyond his actual talent and achievements.

I agree he's massively overrated, but his performance in Batman #206 was pretty damn good and different to all his other roles.

That last point being a key element of what I define as a good actor; different but believable characters. The opposite of which is Owen Wilson; his acting consists of repeating lines.

I’d rate him way behind Tom Hardy as Bane.

What did he do except that weird tongue thing ?

Tom Hardy's Bane had the most ridiculous voice. He grows up (or at least spends two decades or more) in a pit in Rajasthan India with a machine strapped to his face and sounds like a gay Soho bartender?
