Superb and deserved win for the Japanese girls ,but I have got say some very contentious officiating

I’d say it was more having a ref that didn’t adjust to the level.
Oz girls forgot to complete the tackle and allowed Japan to offload at will.

I'll replace the boys' graphic if and as soon as there's a one with more results.

The Japanese try at the start of the 2nd half was as good a try as you'll see. Draw, pass and support, and repeat numerous times.

It was telling that none of the NZ Girls team made the tournament team.

I thought that two of the NZM girls did.

I mean the top NZ U18 team. One each from the Māori and Warriors.

@Bovidae The player from NZ Māori Girls was Kahlia Awa. I can't remember all the other names.

IIRC, the girls MVP was Amahli Hala (Australia) and the boys MVP Waisake Salabiau (NZ).

Less money, but here's another one. I assume there are lots of sevens tournaments coming up soon.

This is a missed opportunity to give the best NZ boys and girls some international experience.

@Bovidae Maybe the timing is off? I think it coincides with the final rounds of Super 8. Do some other schools comps play at the same time? I might be too much of a disruption.

@Nepia I was thinking of a team of 18 yr olds who had left school and had been identified as potential NZ sevens players. There must be enough of them from the Condors and World Schools Sevens competitions. Some will already be in the NZ sevens programme.

This tournament starts on Friday. I've seen several national squads being named, but no All Blacks 7s or Black Ferns 7s Development teams.
