Pissed that they didn’t name check @Victor-Meldrew as In the Shed’s biggest fan.

Just watching again and I reckon Faf was lucky that he didn’t get a yellow card for what was in my view a deliberate knock down. He just jumped into the pass and put his hands and feet out. You don’t “catch “ an intercept like that.

As an aside, did you notice how quiet Faf was? Kept well under control by our loosies.

Just getting around to this now
The number of times Nesbitt calls any Books backline player with dark skin "Mapimpi" is utterly embarrassing.
To be fair it wasn't just the saffa players. I recall him calling Rieko as Richie at least once
Needs to retire
The commentary on the Japan AB XV game was way better.

So 2 questions:
- what does that Frizell performance mean for Scooter? Is he on the bench now? Or are we going to do the unthinkable and make a choice between BBBR and SW? I assume Scooter goes to the bench.
IMO Scooter is a bolted on starter. Either way I wouldn’t mind them rotating the other two to keep them fresh for the RWC, I just think the way Scooter has been playing they can’t leave him out. Whether he has a 4, 5 or 6 on his back, he is now playing the tight game at a high level that we need.
I agree, I think Scooter is a starter with Whitelock most at risk.
Scooter’s workrate & physicality has been a big reason for our lack looking as good as it has in the 2 tests
If Frizzell is able to keep this level of performance then I am quite happy to see us rotating the 3 locks heavily with Vai’i used mainly as a sub
-
There was a tiny knock on clearly visible on the replay that the TMO made his decision on.
It was so small that it was hard to detect in real time but it was there

@DaGrubster Thanks mate I didn't watch the game

@Bones given he touched it when he leapt, he has to regather it without it touching either BB or the ground...one of those things didnt happen.

Frizzell has been a revelation, I didn’t see that coming,
was convinced they would have to play scooter there ,
now if he can keep that going, we have a selection headache , a good one

Lol I think @taniwharugby was just being nice, what I think he meant was neither of those things happen.

Although not to the same level of Nisbett, TJ mis-identified players too. He might have to hand back his Ta$man PR card for saying AJ Lam was Nankivell.

To be fair the AB XV players all looked a bit the same. The Japan side was easier with all those pakeha, maori, Samoan and Fijian players to make identification so much easier...

@ACT-Crusader would've been interesting to see what the assessment of Jordan's game would be if he'd given away an intercept try.

Poor old, Will.
We're back to critiquing him for mistakes he didn't make!

I'm not used to these displays of competence from the All Blacks - it's like living in some weird alternative reality where Frizzle is a class #6, BB has some attacking spark and RM doesn't crack under pressure...
We have a good forward pack and are discovering some attacking flair - we finally seem to be heading in the right direction instead of backwards

Sadly for Whitelock I think his best days are past him, not quite mobile enough, not quite physical enough.
Retallick and Scooter are definitely the best combination, locking these days is a little bit less (though still very important) about the lineout and more about moving bodies at the ruck and being able to carry the ball.
It's work rate and physicality and unfortunately for Whitelock, Retallick and scooter are just more physical than him.

@Windows97 Can't agree with this. If anything I think Whitelock has rediscovered some of his best form over the last two years after a period of average play. He was outstanding in black last year and he has been a standout in the few matches he played in SR this year, particularly the final.

Yeah, and the lineout work (both offensive and defensive) is prime Matfield quality.
