Actors striking right now. And as usual, a monumental lack of self awareness. Robots taking jobs? What a new concept!

I guess it begs the question: If AI becomes so realistic that we can't tell if it's real people, will we really care? I think yes, but if you can't tell the difference....

Like everything around AI, the issue for me isn't that they are using AI instead of humans. It's if we are not told.

Well that and stupidity. I once struggled to convince a Sales Director in Singapore that we didn't actually have hobbits in NZ!

    It’s a weird one.

I mean for the first scene in the new Indiana Jones movie (worth a watch for nostalgias sake by the way ) I truly believed Ford was in his early 40s as opposed to the 80 year old we saw later on.

The episode of Black Mirror with Salma Hayek covers the subject pretty well.

Well that's the thing. Would you be happy to watch a new IJ film with a de-aged AI Harrison Ford rather than recasting with a younger actor? I certainly would. In fact I'd be happy for them to remake the SW sequels using AI Han, Luke and Leia. But obviously the quality would have to be perfect. They're not quite there yet.

But, yeah, the lack of self awareness is off the chart. It's not like there aren't swathes of the US that have had local industries and jobs replaced by robots and much cheaper alternatives. But actors are apparently above that because....actually I can't think of a reason. I have much more sympathy for a coal miner to be honest.

Yeah it would be interesting if the entire movie was Ford ( and Mads Mikkelsen ) de-aged as opposed to the first 15-20 minutes.

I’m just thankful the actors are whinging about this and not Trump. The self righteous ness from them and preachy bullshit ( in particular from Robert De Niro and Meryl Streep ) was sickening.

Well hopefully they'll all be gone soon. Trump because he's old and fat and the actors because of AI.

@Rancid-Schnitzel wouldnt those actors then be entitled to royalties for using thier image/likeness? Isnt that another part of the issue?

That's a different matter entirely. I would support that. I believe another big issue is getting actual streaming figures for the payment of residuals. Alot of dodginess there.

Can any peeps who have seen this let me know if it's dubbed into English?

I've seen a bit of a trailer and they're speaking English, but I've been looking for a subtitled version in cinemas here in Oz (it's only just come out - they picked a bad week with Barbiehiemer) and it's unclear if it is English or Finnish, although google claims both.

Ironically there's a whole raft of people whose jobs have been lost to AI, automation and technology generally in the movie industry. But I guess they aren't the ones in front of the camera...

@Nepia The version I saw was dubbed into English

Correction - the actors speak English with very few subtitles for actual Finnish.

If the chimpanzee, typewriter, and Shakespeare scenario can be realised with AI, then I’m all for it

The amount of garbage which gets released each week is ridiculous

Day Shift. Jamie Foxx plays a vampire hunter who is down on his luck. Good action, a fun mindless watch, with a cameo from Snoop Dogg

Kandahar - Gerard Butler, Travis Fimmell

Butler is a former MI5 agent working as a contractor in Iran, shit goes down, he goes to Afghanistan and is then on the run to Kandahar to escape not only the Iranians, but the Taliban and other people wanting him for the bounty.

Typical Butler film, plenty of action, plenty OTT, but moves along at a good pace and isnt 3 hours long

3 Nissans with seemingly unlimited fuel out of 5 motorcycles that did eventually run out
