    Good yarn

Usual suspects from the Aussie acting school

3.5 bonobos out of 5 chimps

Obi Wan looks so uncivilised with that in his hand

And "Brenton Thwaites" - looks like he probably has about the same acting-range as teenage Anakin.
(I know I shouldn't draw that conclusion from a single still image... but I'd be happy to put money on it)

@Kruse Same director as The Color of Night, which I believe should be watched as a farce.

Yeah - I believe you've mentioned that once or twice... maybe one for next week, once I've soothed my poor brain with some nice simple dumb Michael Bay or some shit.

IIRC this may have been then first movie I remember seeing Alicia Vikander in and then I was subsequently surprised to find out she wasn't Australian.

    LA Confidential

I can’t believe this is only the second time I’ve seen this. You forget that Russ looked like this…..

    654BD5DE-4159-4DB6-90B6-99FF7020E246.jpeg

    Instead of this….

    C52B5CC2-9C74-4014-88B6-C361CFF995BE.jpeg

……and the good old innocent days before Kevin Spacey was exposed as a sex pest.

Guy Pierce very good as well, the whole thing is definitely stylish and entertaining but possibly a bit contrived.

Oh Kim Basinger looked lovely too.

3.25 hookers that look like movie stars out of 5 crooked cops

I really enjoyed LA Confidential and would score it a solid 4/5, with the only thing grating for me was Danny DeVito’s running commentary.

    My wife says Hi.

Well, she actually says a lot more than that generally.

    Yes, short chicks are awesome.

Even shorter bald loudmouth Italian Americans less so.

LA Confidential is a great movie. One of Isabelle Huppert's favourites.

    Ghostbusters Afterlife.

I'd heard some bad reviews for this movie, but I enjoyed it. The story has lots of references to the original film, with some great cameos. Four crossed streams out of five ecto wagons

I watched that a month or so back. I thought it was great fun, particularly as you say, if you are familiar with the original.

I'm getting soft in my old age, got a little dusty about the Harold Ramis treatment. Nicely done

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Jumped the shark, stole parts of Deadpool I/II's backstory motifs, and has a big long crowd dance number that always means (to me) a film/tv series has run out of ideas. And not to be a weightist but just about everyone is fatter, even Groot.

It's not a bad little film. Infinitely better than the 2016 abomination.

    No Way Out

Perhaps the title comes from lawyer advising his client that he has to do the movie. Standard political thriller fare. Gene Hackman playing Gene Hackman, albeit only Sec of Defence this time, not the President (Absolute Power). Some considerable overacting between Dances with Wolves guy and Sean Young.

37th minute there's a terrible kapa haka rendition of Ka Mate. That's as far as I've got.
