I really enjoyed LA Confidential and would score it a solid 4/5, with the only thing grating for me was Danny DeVito’s running commentary.
Short people talk a lot to make up for their stature

My wife says Hi.
Well, she actually says a lot more than that generally.

Yes, short chicks are awesome.
Even shorter bald loudmouth Italian Americans less so.

@Catogrande The first sentence, right?

once I've soothed my poor brain with some nice simple dumb Michael Bay or some shit.
you make it sound like there is a non-simple non-dumb Michael Bay version!

Ghostbusters Afterlife.
I'd heard some bad reviews for this movie, but I enjoyed it. The story has lots of references to the original film, with some great cameos. Four crossed streams out of five ecto wagons
I watched that a month or so back. I thought it was great fun, particularly as you say, if you are familiar with the original.

I'm getting soft in my old age, got a little dusty about the Harold Ramis treatment. Nicely done

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Jumped the shark, stole parts of Deadpool I/II's backstory motifs, and has a big long crowd dance number that always means (to me) a film/tv series has run out of ideas. And not to be a weightist but just about everyone is fatter, even Groot.

It's not a bad little film. Infinitely better than the 2016 abomination.

No Way Out
Perhaps the title comes from lawyer advising his client that he has to do the movie. Standard political thriller fare. Gene Hackman playing Gene Hackman, albeit only Sec of Defence this time, not the President (Absolute Power). Some considerable overacting between Dances with Wolves guy and Sean Young.
37th minute there's a terrible kapa haka rendition of Ka Mate. That's as far as I've got.

@antipodean One of Roger Donaldson's best movies, hence the NZ connection.

Remember that haka bit as being cringe-worthy but the rest as being a really good film with a stand-out performance from Will Patton.
High tit-watch factor too, IIRC.

No Way Out is awesome. @antipodean's mini review does it a great injustice.
