Its a tough one I think, I mean one the one hand get the fuck over yourself, on the other hand how stupid do you have to be to shout "look at the homo!" or whatever, in a very public place & think thats going to be OK? I guess the arguement is had he shouted "Here comes the N--r!" or Coconut, would that have been cool, even if his mate didn't mind? I've got a Pak friend I call chociolate face. Because she has a chocolate face, but I'm not stupid enough to shout "Whatta you want to drink chocolate face!" across a packed bar.

On the Roberts one, FFS thats just dumb by him, who gets to the head of a company like that & doesn't realise there's shit you just don't touch? I wouldn't fire him for not grovelling to chicks, I'd fire him for being a fucking idiot & screwing up the company's PR.

A lot of the arguement used now to defend the right to say whatever about chicks & gays & dirty foriegners are the same arguments I can remember from 30 years ago in NZ when it was cool to call Fijians coconuts & Indians curries.

Ironically my boss called me a sheep fucker in a major meting the other day. No one batted an eyelid.

Part of it does feel that white blokes have had an awesome run, but now its a level playing field rather than feeling that everyone else has been made equal to us, we feel something has been taken away from us. We don't see not being allowed to call our PA sugar tits as her leveling up to equal to us, but instead as if we've lost the right to call women sugar tits. After all its just bants.

The thing is Gollum, many blokes don't see it or have the ability to express how or what they are feeling, but more and more males are starting to think it has gone past a level playing field.

I disagree that it should cost Roberts his job , he probably had a point about the woman he mentioned too.

Having said that I've known some feral people in my time but I can't say I ever heard any of them call someone " chocolate face" it's not something I'd call a brown person either .

I'm missing something with those Roberts comments. I see where he calls men idiotic and dinosaurs but given he is a man himself I'm not sure that is sexist? Where is the sexism there?

If he wasn't already on the way out and likely financially no worse off by this move I imagine he would have a very strong wrongful termination lawsuit.

Roberts comes across as a bit eccentric/fucking odd, I'm sure there are people who were gunning for him. Pretty sad that this was enough to do it though.

If Chiefs players want to go to town with strippers and whatever in a private party in a private location, shrug.

But a stripper at the Okoroire hot pools with members of the public around? That is just gross and fucking DUMB.

On a side note, I was on the side of the Chiefs CEO when he kept it factual around the stripper's accusation. As in 'she said this, independent witnesses said nope, case closed.' But then he went down the fuckwit path of "You have got to remember this is one person's accusation and her standing in the community and culpability is not beyond reproach," Flexman said.

Her 'standing in the community'?? Fuck off. Obviously nothing happened here, but strippers are entitled too a safe, non-threatening work environment same as everyone else.

Why is it ok to call you a sheep fucker but career suicide to call an arab a goat/camel fucker, a gay a pillow biter or to allude to a woman being on her rags? Actually, I bet your boss would never dare say that to a Kiwi woman. I think what people are objecting to is this incredible double standard where you can say whatever the hell you like about one particular group, i.e. straight white men, but it's absolutely beyond the pale if they make similar comments about other groups. That's not a level playing field, that's one group basically being told to suck it up while others being actively encouraged to be offended at anything the perpetually outraged tell them to be offended about.

This is the crux of it, I think. Allardyce is guilty of stupidity rather than homophobia.

The common thread of Mad Monday issues across all codes is 'shit you can get away with in private, not public', and again this one falls right in that box. Dressing up as Hitler? Hiring strippers? Hurling drunken abuse? Getting coked to the eyeballs? All fine if you do it behind closed doors. But time after time these footy players go and do it in public and that's where trouble starts.

Why these clubs don't just hire out a hotel for themselves is beyond me. Hire security to ensure the general public can't get in. Then the players can go bananas, order in strippers, get sucked off by dogs etc etc etc.

The thing is Barb, even with the grubs from league, they do take precautions, and the media goes out of the way to make a story. That chick in front of the Dogs home base who said she was abused by their players, when it turns out they weren't even there (and come one, the gates were locked, you can't get more private than that). Or the time i think the Sharks got a boat and went out in to the middle of the harbour, and the story was from a grainy photo from a telescopic lens through a door that showed a stripper, inside. Mad Monday "outrage" is clicks gold, so the media will go out of their way to find/manufacture a story.

Now, this is different, this is in public, and not smart, but it's also a non-story made sensational.
