Boks are pretty mediocre team. Certainly not in top two in world, maybe not in top three.

Result is like a sporting quiz oddity.

I’d like Foz to come out and say that he thought we were a notch ahead of them tonight, but sport is an odd thing and sometime the lesser team ends up with its name on the trophy.

Fucking well played ABs. Bloody proud of you.

I’m not sure how you can say this about a team that has won three incredibly tight games in a row

Hats off to them and congratulations to them. They know how to win when it counts.

    Amazing stuff

Yup it's rope a dope, they let their opponents defeat themselves. And it works

Shattered but more so for Cane and Foster. They deserved better.

I was depressed last week after England had blown it. The last opponent you want in a final is SA, especially with Rassie and Siya in charge. I think we would have beaten England.

The worst way to lose, but am so proud of the boys.

@Victor-Meldrew opening quarter was where we lost it IMO, they dominated us and we had our backs against the wall from there, cards aside.

I thought we lost it through out the game with errors, small decisions, goal kicking. We were always in it.

But the main takeaway is that the balance of rugby is off - kicking dominates, the current card system makes games a lottery, head contact is problem.

Papalii will be the captain next year.

            Taukei'aho will be hooker.

NZ will start their best players, finally.

Hard to disagree. We looked a bit nervous at the start and the Boks targeted out midfield. Came back well and grew mentally, jut a bit too late.

I know no one wants to hear this at this point, but Barnes and his team had a really good game. Couple of decisions could have gone either way as always, I think the Kolisi one should have been red but it hasn’t been since the first week of the tournament so I wasn’t surprised.

Thought Barnes managed the game and his team of officials brilliantly actually, the contrast of his calm under pressure with last night was stark.

The penalty against Ardie that led to Boks points in the first half was rough (read: wrong, because there was a clear release) but otherwise the breakdown was mostly a free for all. Fourie and Kwagga Smith oth got turnovers while clearly not supporting the bodyweight (Fourie was lying on the ground, Kwagga was leaning on his hands), but these things happen in every game.
The TMO not picking up Etzebeth's elbow is a bit of a mystery, but them's the breaks.
I'm certainly not furious with any of the reffing, but very disappointed with how the ABs did basically everything but win with 14 men, despite dropping too much pill. South Africa didn't play well and a +3 points statistic over the whole finals series, that's pretty good value for what they invested, but eeeuuuughh, I feel hollow.

And PSDT, what an amazing game. Fucker

I don't blame Barnes. But if you give Cane a red, Kolisi is gone for all money. There were forearms and that fucking scrum at the end. That's an ABs penalty in minute 2. Frizzel, well fuck. I fucking hope Foster and Ryan come out and throw sour grapes. Fuck world rugby. Fuck the TMO. That was a disgrace.

I was here and their shortcoming were very apparent. If the French game had been reffed properly they would have lost it, and they were hugely assisted tonight by official rulings and still only finished a point ahead.

So, for me, just a sporting aberration.

That’s what makes the game so beguiling.

Great display AB's. It just wasn't meant to be with so many challenges to face. Maybe this match will change the impact of the Tmo moving forward. I sure as hell hope so. Well done South Africa, you had such a tough draw.

                                      I thought he was OK.

That Ardie non-penalty...Barnes acknowledged he won it yet let the fucking kick stand. Just fuck me dead.

If Canes was red (as I felt it was), Kolisi should also have been (it was worse). Either have a rule to protect the head. Or drop them and see rugby destroyed by concussion issues.

I lost interest in the game at this point

Due to an incompetent (or inconsistent) TMO decision. And a shit decision by WR on the 20-minute red card rule

I still do, but I have to admit to beginning to wonder.
