    Rugby is a funny game.

We won the set piece. Had more ball, more carries, they made like 2 and a half the tackles we did. Made linebreaks. And we just couldn't win.

So often when a game goes like today’s it’s the little things that matter the most and become big things! The goal kick misses even though 2 good penalties had been kicked. The knock on by ALB even though he had made a good catch and run down the right side not long before that.

Boks unlucky to score a try down the right side too if not for a foot in touch and knock on.

Did you see Smith dragged into the scrum that started that movmeent? Would the TMO go back for that if they scored? Ah, the big questions in life

Well done the Boks. Hugely physical team.
The head contact feels completely random. Kolisi YC, Cane Red, and the 'glancing contact' on EDG is nowt. Missed the Etsebeth elbow, so who knows.

Despite the adversity, we created enough to win that game. Handling was poor, and even then missing kicks cost us.

Play of the game: Kolbe knocking the ball on. I reckon we score from there - and they weren't getting a try tonight; that would have been the game.

I have no problem with the outcome of either captain's card. Clear difference based on the framework and mitigation.

Can you elaborate further ? How was Canes harsher than Kolisis ? ( i missed part of the latters as I was getting my third helping of bacon and eggs )

Cane was upright, with reasonable force, direct contact. No mitigation.

Kolisi had contact through the body, lowered himself a little, and the head contact was almost incidental like a whiplash.

Funny, because at the time it looked like head on head contact and worse than Cane's....

That's why the review process exists at this level. "At the time" can be a poor helper when it comes to these decisions.

The bunker looks at it, fuck, I wish I had one on the sideline reffing amateurs 😬

Amazing how the Springboks did not score a single point after 34 minutes - against 14 men no less - and still won. Just pretty good defence (by both teams, apparently).

Ironically we didn't need an even number of players to win. We just needed to hold our passes and kick our kicks...

Yeah, look at Ireland, fuck all cards. We average more then one a game. Even when winning against Argentina, or playing fucking Namibia

Boks unlucky to score a try down the right side too if not for a foot in touch and knock on.

Did you see Smith dragged into the scrum that started that movmeent? Would the TMO go back for that if they scored? Ah, the big questions in life

@nzzp yeah as I said above, I find this aspect most frustrating, In general play the TMO Will ignore knock ons (Faf did one that Barnes saw and called ok) forward passes etc...but if a try is scored he scours the game to find one to scrub it out.

Either call all or none, cant pick and choose which to ignore, why is one infringements more worthy of calling than another?

I mean Barnes saw that knock by Ardie, said it went back, let it go, so TMO has over ruled the ref (yes with the correct call) maybe justbhave spider cam and 3 refs sit in a room full of cameras and the whistle over over the loudspeaker...

I realise the game.would be even more stop start, but maybe need to go back to the days of the.ref asking for the input and they can only intervene on foul play.

Reminds me of that game when in SA when the TMO made a correct design but disregarded protocol. Now the balance has really tipped too far

Well in Ardie's case it tipped slightly off his hand, Barnes missed, then went forward off his knee afterwards - that's what Barnes called not forward
