Sweet so the Canes should have a really decent top 23 and then not much depth under that. Bloody hope we can keep players fit next year.

If we sign Delany and Sangster then this is my 23 now. Even though I think Mafileo should start at loose-head I have him as the reserve tight-head to fit both Numia and Rakete-Stones into the 23, plus Mafileo is also a decent loose-head aswell.

    1. Numia
    2. Aumua
    3. Lomax
    4. Sangster
    5. Walker-Leawere
    6. Delany
    7. Kirifi
    8. Flanders
    9. Roigard
    10. Cameron
    11. Naholo
    12. Barrett
    13. Proctor
    14. Sullivan
    15. Love
    16. O’Reilly
    17. Rakete-Stones
    18. Mafileo
    19. Howden (Delany to cover lock)
    20. Lakai
    21. Perenara
    22. Godfrey (covers 10/15)
    23. Higgins (covers 12/13/11/14)

    @Canes4life

Looks a lot better than OK side. In fact, if Laidlaw is any good, a top quality head forwards coach is or has been signed (assume they have found someone but can't announce yet) and not too many injuries, then this side could do (much) better than last year

    Other options are

    Shields at6
    Delany at lock
Sangster or maybe Taula at 19
    Barrett covers first
Moorby at 22 or starting on the wing

Sullivan either starting or at 22

    Or Moorby on the wing

@george33 our depth in the loose fowards is up there with the best. Who is average from the below? Locks is by far our biggest weakness.

@Winger our best side (if selected) can match it with anyone IMO. The test will be when some of those guys are rested or are injured. I feel like this is the case with most teams now though. There doesn’t seem to be the strong underbelly of depth anymore. Which is why a team like the Crusaders are having to sign the likes of Leigh Half-Penny and Ryan Crotty for example.

Based on the above updated squad list, the following positions have yet to be announced - 1x prop, 1x lock, 2x loose forwards, 1x centre. These will be announced in tomorrow's squad naming.

Prop: I have no idea who the last prop will be but I assume it will be a tight-head, I wonder if they will go with Pasilio Tosi or try and sign Owen Franks again.

Lock: I'm assuming the last locking positon will go to Justin Sangster. We need experience and he's been around for a few years now.

Loose forwards: I'm picking the last two loose forward positions to go to Brayden Iose and Caleb Delany (who can also cover lock).

Centre: no surpises here, I think we'll keep Peter Umaga-Jensen.

This was in an ODT article:

Levi Aumua (Moana Pasifika to Crusaders) and Billy Proctor (Hurricanes to Rebels) would have been welcome additions had they not chosen alternative destinations

Is that correct about Proctor? I thought he re-signed?

Think you've nailed it, with Tosi over Franks.

Franks is currently with Toulouse according to his Instagram account so doubt it’s him.
