Yeah, I was a bit slow - your My Drive icon looks different than mine, not sure why. And the folders are not syncing as the clouds aren't green
Might have to delete everything and start again. But I don't get why it will sync the parent folder but not the rest

Is MS one drive running on your PC? Because that by default does your Doc folder, it maybe the issue.
Maybe. How do I stop that?

So I still use OneDrive, I put back up 2FA codes for things on it so it is in dif place than other stuff. But I have unlinked it from the PC documents (what used to be called My Documents) folder. Not in my One Drive it is just a folder called Documents, and doesn't have the same special icon that you have. So both Google and One Drive are trying to back up/sync the same folder in your case

So I could keep it and disconnect it from my documents and photos etc?

Anything you want Google to sync, yes. They don't play nicely together. If yo are not using One Drive, then you can just uninstall it
One Drive is no more. So will google drive just take over, or do I have to do something else?

Restart I guess, should be OK

Yeah restart PC, then check the icon on the right of your desktop, it will show what Google Drive is doing or has done
It is syncing, just not to my google drive folder!!
I did notice something though
My laptop is syncing to Computers. When I click on that it shows the file path as computers>my lap top. Not my drive. But I don't know how to change the path to My Drive > Documents. Or whether I even need to. I just opened Google Drive on my phone, My Drive has still not been updated, but under computers, my laptop has been synced
-
So the way to think of it is this
My Laptop (and you can rename that) is any folder on your device that you can add when you install the Google Drive app. It will sync between those added folders on your Laptop and the area in your online Google Drive that is under computers. You can have multiple computers with Google Drive app installed, they will all appear individually under computers in the online GD view. They only sync from that PC to that part of computers in GD online. The only way to access those folders on another PC is to do it through web browser and online
Google Drive does not require installation on any device, you can be totally online with the GD part. It is only if you install the GD app that those files are then on a device, if you don't install the GD app on anything they can only be accessed via web browser. However any, and all, PCs that you install the GD app on will sync (via mirror or stream) the the GD folder (which acts as a virtual G drive on your PC) -
As to your issue, I was mistaken. The little cloud being empty means it is not being backed up to One Drive, that is a one drive symbol, Google's is a green tick on the folder or file
If the stuff in your Google Drive folder on you PC show the cloud, One Drive still is in control and will stop Google Drive app from syncing properly

When I go to GD online, or via and app from another device, the files in "laptop" have been updated. The others are not. So I guess as long as the files are being updated I guess that's okay
