All Blacks 2024

If Owen Franks or even Sam Whitelock are Razor's solutions, we are in some big fucking trouble.
While he may be Mr Continuity at first and build on the existing team (not a bad place to start from), I'd like to see some fresh faces pretty quickly. He has 4 years to develop his team with access to any player in NZ and should just get on with it.

Spot on. He has a lot of leeway this (and possibly next) year to try a few things out so although I have no problem with him questioning the status quo now, the above is exactly what I want him to do .

Yeah you do get that niggling feeling that it's a bit strange the coaches "guy" that helped him win 5 titles just kinda randomly upped sticks just as he grew into the role and his coach got the top job.

Opportunity to grab some Japanese spondoolies post-RWC and then back next year? I'm interested to see who'll be in the second 10 shirt - assuming DMac is favoured to start.

@Punch_up said in All Blacks 2024 - no interminable Foster arguments:
@booboo yeah, could be only part of the squad to maintain some secrecy around possible new caps for the upcoming season
OR
Razor has invited current ABs only and he's giving them either the
or the
as he walks past them on the training field.Example:
Razor: "I'm sorry, Finlay. Thank you for your service."Finlay: "But coach..."
Razor: "Don't make this harder than it already is."
It makes perfect sense to start with a basis of a squad formed from the guys that were there.
All would have reasonable expectations.
Just trying to work out if anyone from last year missed out. Lord and Finau the only two I could think of.
And whilst I agree re Christie Razor has to find 2x better 9s. They're probably there but let Super take it's course.
@booboo itโs the RWC squad minus players now overseas isnโt it?

@DaGrubster as far as I can see

Hopefully he is luring Bridge back.

Comment of 2024 (thus far)!

Otoh, what if Razor does make some really unpopular selections like that? I mean, there are plenty of whacky crusaders ideas that didn't quite work at ABs level, but Razor might believe he can make those work.

I can actually see Havili playing 10 at some stage...

@Victor-Meldrew As long as he stays away from the number 12 jumper...

Me too, and I was told to fuck off.
I hope we are treated equally. -
Well Razor's got the courage to follow his own path and break the mould.
The guy has enough intelligence to realize that it's not beneficial to weaken SR by making wholesale changes to eligibility rules. -
We have some serious talent still available even after the exodus.
Roigard-DMac-JB-Ioane-Narawa-Telea-Jordan.
Personally I was surprised last year that DMac wasn't running the show as his form warranted it.
Need to find a couple of big no nonsense units for the front end and we are in business. -
Just curious on others peoples thoughts on this. If Richie Came back after the Japanese season finished in May and played club rugby for Linwood do you think he should be able to be selected for ABs.
Me personally I think Razor is fishing for something or someone else.@chchfanatic said in All Blacks 2024 - looking forward:

Me personally I think Razor is fishing for something or someone else.Well of course he could, as long as he's contracted to NZR and not an overseas club, players can do that now, but just for 1 year.

@Punch_up so what if he did?
While playing rhe "what if" game, what if someone like Bridge did come back and he had honed his game and became an excellent test rugby player?
As above, I do like a little of the unknown right now, for the past dozen or so years we have been largely "by the book" and for about half of that period we didn't question it cos the results came.

@taniwharugby I agree with the general premise of shaking things up and looking at things differently.
However, i'm not sure Bridge is the best example.
He's about to turn 29 and has fundamental issues with his game that means he has a ceiling. Issues that are highly unlikely to be honed. One such issue is he lacks footwork which is why he had/has such an issue beating defenders. From memory towards the end even Razor wasn't selecting him in his top 15.
-
Yes all players in Nz who appeared at rwc werenโt to train pre Christmas with super squads. Lord and finau would have had their bronco/strength testing base with the chiefs for example.
-
Fucking pumped that the greatest coach in sport is coaching my team.
Good on him for ruffling a few feathers, including those of a few guys who post here.
I love the idea of him involving the whole New Zealand nation in his themes. The ambition and energy of this guy is something else. It's going to be a helluva a ride watching what he does with the All Blacks.
In Razor we trust!
