    In The Electric Mist. Tommy Lee Jones murder/mystery. Set in small town Louisiana.<br />
    <br />
    Completely engrossing but ultimately confusing. Too many loose ends, almost poetic narrative(annoying) and too many characters. But you can't look away. What it could have been is brilliant but it ends up just being average.

    Question. I am getting taken to the movies tonight and the three movies I am attempting to choose between are Avatar, Green Zone (the movie, not the crappy part of Waikato stadium!) and Law Abiding Citizen. Anyone seen all three or able to help me in making a choice? <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

    Have seen Law Abiding Citizen, and really enjoyed it (aside form ending was rushed) but I am yet to see Avatar, and if in 3D, I know which I'd be watching!

    Yeah I found the same as TR about Law Abiding Citizen, was a frikkin great movie up until the ending. Avatar in 3D is worth a watch on the big screen, LAC can wait for dvd.

    Another for Avatar. Have to agree with LAC. Was a good movie but the end felt like a cop out.

    Green Zone is a good action film, with horrible, horrible politics. Avatar is a great film, would recommend that if you like Sci-Fi.

    Cheers for the feedback. Will go watch Avatar while it is on the big screen and in 3D. I didn't even think about the 3D aspect, the others can wait until they come out on DVD.<br />

    I have never been a fan of Sci-Fi, but I saw the Star Trek movie a while back and was pleasantly surprised by it...maybe I am turning the corner in my movie tastes...

    That and the modern Sci-Fi films are getting better and more accessible.

    I'd struggle to think of examples of the first part of that statement, Kirwan.

    Well it all comes down to taste, but Star Trek was a very good sci fi film. Sure it's on the "fun" end of the scale, but it ticked a lot of boxes for me. I re-watched Minority Report the other day, and I had forgotten how excellent that was.<br />
    <br />
    Some to rattle off;<br />
    <br />
    Iron Man<br />
    28 Days Later<br />
    Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (yes, yes, a chick flick Sci Fi film)<br />
    Children of Men<br />
    <br />
    Huge variety really. I may be easily pleased, but I think Sci Fi has never been taken more seriously and introduced in less obvious ways.<br />
    <br />
    Oh shit, and Serenity <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

    To be honest, when my girlfriend brought the Star Trek DVD home I was pretty keen to not watch it, but ended up quite enjoying it.<br />
    <br />
    Ended up going to watch Avatar last night, I thought it was great. It took quite a while for my eyes to adjust to the glasses but that was no big deal. Was surprised to see the geeky guy off Grandma's Boy there but he played his role well. I wouldn't mind seeing it in 2D now just to see how the two versions compare...

    Worst. Movie. Ever.<br />

    Its not funny, its horribly predictable, the characters are crap. Its terrible. An hour and half of my life i will never get back. And i will generally enjoy enything Vince Vaugn is in as well (Swingers is an all-time favourite), but not fucking this. Avoid at all costs. <br />
    <br />
    I wish that i had 2 extra hands, so i could give this movie 4 thumbs down.[/QUOTE]<br />
    <br />
    Mrs TR convinced me to watch this last night, obviously after your scathing report, I was none too keen...<br />
    <br />
    Thought it was a bit silly, a few amusing moments, but not as bad as you make it out to be, certainly seen alot worse!!<br />
    <br />
    Maybe going in expecting a 0/10 movie gave me little expectation?

    Went and saw Boy last night. Very, very funny with a bit of sadness thrown in.<br />
    Some moments reminded me of growing up on the coast, especially the "You fuck up", "Nah, you fuck up" arguments.<br />
    Does have a quick, yet random, ending which will throw a few people off but still a must see.<br />
    <br />
    4/5<br />

    Watched The Secret Life Of Bees on Thursday night.<br />
    <br />
    Really enjoyed it and is it Queen Latifah that is the lead role?? I don't know a heck of a lot about acting but I thought she was awesome in it.

    I watched that the other night, and it was surprisingly good. Very strange cast, three singer/actors in the lead and what the hell was Paul Bettany doing in this film (Although he was brilliant, unrecognisable at times).<br />
    <br />
    Did feel like I was in Oprah's book club at times though.

    You two need to watch Commando or Cobra now before it's too late!

    The compromises of marriage unfortunately. I do my best to ruin them with "witty" comments and pointing out plot holes but she keeps watching them. <br />

    Nice. Can't go past the " 'I'll do it, I'll do it man! I got a bomb! I'll blow this whole place up!' 'Go ahead, I don't shop here anyway' " exchange though. <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /><br />

    Wonder if it is out on Blu-ray?

    Was Paul Bettany the Father??<br />
    <br />
    Who were the other singers in it?? I kind of recognised the middle sister. Is it the girl from Wu Wang Gang or something?
