Anyone watched Maestro? I've watched 45 minutes and it's bollocks, does it get any better?
I can feel all the strings being pulled for the oscar baiting yet all of the performances are over acting (even though we're supposed to pretend Carey Mulligan is brilliant in everything).
As I watch every Oscar best picture nominee I guess I'll keep watching it in parts like it's a Snyder movie

I'm not sure why Utu would be associated with sci-fi films.
He wasn't really associating them. His point was cinema overall had become a bit too boring, safe and stale and films like Utu (and Reservoir Dogs) were refreshingly different.

The Beekeeper
Stupid as fuck but highly entertaining.
4 John Wicks out of 5 Jason Bournes.

It looks fucking awesome. Mrs TA and Miss TA have already passed on the opportunity, so The Boy and I will head to the cinema on opening weekend to get some of that.
Will re-watch the first one (again) in preparation.
I never read the books or watched the original film. Went straight to the new movie and it was outstanding. Will be eager to see part 2

You need to watch David Lynch's original once.
BTW, some cinemas will be doing a double feature for Dune Part 1 and 2 later this month. So if you have a spare 6 h to kill...

The Baron is WAY better in that one.
This whole scene is so creepy and fucked up. Definitely scarred me at least a bit as a kid.

Just to add to the nerdiness ( will tag @NTA so he sees )
Are the Harkonnens red haired in the book ( which to this day I’ve never read obviously ). I notice they’ve gone from red haired, sort of camp and creepy in 1984 to pasty and bald in the later version.
Really interested to see how Feyd goes, Sting was pretty awesome and nasty in the original, it really blew my mind that this psycho was the same guy who sung for the Police ( thanks for pointing that out Dad, I didn’t actually realise at the time )
Caladan looks like a nicer place to live than Guidi Prime no matter which version you look at.

@MN5 This movie will complete the adaptation of the original book?
But with plans for a Dune 3 based on Dune Messiah?
from what ive heard i hope not, i havent read it but have been told that all the sequels/prequels are super weird...even compared to the original
i hope this one is as good as the first and thats it, just a "perfect" couple of movies
....hollywood will probably make loads more and try and milk every cent

I read Dune in preperation of the first one coming out, the trailer had got me very interested, i thougt the movie was pretty much perfect, hit exactly the tone i had in my head reading the book, possibly the only time i have ever said i dont think you need to read the book

Probably repeating myself as I am prone to do on here but there is a version of the 1984 film on YouTube which I reckon is well worth a watch.
Some of the performances are “interesting” and the special effects are less than special in a lot of cases……but it explains stuff way more than the theatrical release.
Also young Virginia Madsen ( not in it much ) is one of the hottest women you’ll ever see.
