It's 2024 so it's about time for a female director... skills, experience etc are meaningless
The 'men uncomfortable' bit was nothing about SW, it was about honour killings in Pakistan, she's been someone fighting against the terrible treatment of women in Pakistan (journalist/documentaries). But still, she has f all experience in this sort of projectIt is set to fail. But then, JJ Abrams is a big name and look how The Force Awakens turned out...
What is the director who gave us Rogue One doing??? Oh I see, he has a penis...

Abrams deliberately set out to kill SW style/tropes - too modernize it. It worked, and it is not what people want

Finally got round to watch Ahsoka, didn't hate it, which is high praise given Filoni.
Pity that Ray Stevenson wont be in any more seasons going forward.
I'm slightly interested in watching Rebels now to see how all the characters fit in.
I thought it was 'ok', had its moments but didnt think it was Filoni's best work
Definitely give Rebels a watch, its a great series. Can take a while to get into it but it definitely pays off.
For a 'kids cartoon' it has plenty of dark moments.
Its a great bridge from the end of the Clone Wars and the OT movies. Some great moments involving Vader/Anakin and Ahsoka too. -
kind of looks ok...but dont think it actually explains where this is sitting in the timeline other than the jedi seem to be in full swing so pre EPIII
Famously they claim before Maul a sith hadn't been seen for a long time so is this in the distant past...or just some retcon?

i see the Remake of KotOR is all but cancelled, i find it fascinating as its a really good story and feels like a licence to print money....personally i would have made it into a film. the only thing i can think of is theyre afraid the twist is too widely known too have impact...but im not sure it is outside of the gaming community, i managed to avoid it (because i didnt have an xbox back in the day) until i played it a couple of years ago

A millennia irrc. So more cannon busted if the Sith pop up. Probably just went back 100 years so they could get a Yoda cameo in. Being helmed by Leslie Hedland is not promising either.

After a nice morning walk yesterday my boys suggested we fry up some Chicken tenders, get some Coke Zero and watch some Star Wars in honour of May the 4th.
After much arguing and figuring we had 3-4 hours to kill we decided on a Rogue One/A New Hope back to back featureā¦ā¦
A few thoughts.
Rogue One is THE absolute best of the ānewā Star Wars. By these Iām not counting the prequel trilogy. Iām counting Mando, BOBF, Ahsoka, Kenobi, Sequel Trilogy etc. A perfect mix of cool new characters, terrific nods to the source material ( I love how seamlessly the two movies go together, brilliant homage from all involved ), action packed set pieces and a compelling story even if you know theyāre all doomed from the start.
A New Hope ? Well itās the OG, what more can you say.
But there are still SO many fun little flaws that are worth pointing out.
It was ridiculous how the battle over Scarif had literally hundreds of tie fighters and X Wings flying around yet for the Death Star battle a mere THIRTY rebel ships attacked, and in defence the Death Star launched NINE tie fighters ( we counted them, it wasnāt too tough )
Wouldnāt a safer method have been to launch all the fighters they could ? The Death Star would have had THOUSANDS of tie fighters in hundreds of docking bays. I reckon George Lucas and the team need to digitally add a truckload more to up the urgency. The battle is still classic but so leisurely in comparison.
Princess Leias ādiplomatic missionā nonsense is hilarious in retrospect. No wonder DV could see through her bullshit right away.
DV talked pretty tough to Obi Wan considering he got his arse handed to him TWICE ( obviously counting the Kenobi series ) I can kinda accept the explanation that they were older, less acrobatic and cautious when dueling thoughā¦..
( Real explanation. They didnāt have good props or stunt coordinators in the 70s )
Wouldnāt the gunner on the Star Destroyer have shot the escape pod containing 3P0 and R2 for shits and gigs anyway ? Were they worried someone was going to audit their use of ammunition ?
Luke is a bit of a pansy to start with, hard to believe he goes from losing to a sandperson, getting pushed around by drunk aliens in a bar to being as powerful as he becomes, even for Star Warsā¦..
Harrison Ford kills it as Han Solo.
But above all even at my age the intro to Star Wars still gets me everytime, George Lucas absolutely struck gold and created movie magic.

@MN5 CGI advances have been significant since 1977...
Iāve noticed that too, I still think they need to add a few more ships in the background for the New Hope battle scene I talked about.
Not like they havenāt done it alreadyā¦..
