I'm happy to make non Patreon donation, but weary of Patreon as I signed up originally and money left my account but didn't go to the Fern, then when I queried Patreon they claimed it was because I was Oz registered but on NZ card and took me ages to refund my money. @Kirwan Does the Paypal link require a paypal account? If it does can I direct transfer to your bank?
Maybe I'll tie my donation to the removal of the "Shield Snorters" on behalf of my fellow Bay peeps.

Some of you might be interested in this:
Page views by people logged in is the red line. The other line is all the other page views
There's always a lot more people reading than bothering to create an account etc. However this is extreme. The red line is meaningless because it so much smaller
We had huge traffic during the RWC, then dropped back to the regular December numbers. Sometime in January we suddenly got 20million more page views a month.
On May 8th we got another load of bot traffic that's what killed the CPU
A few tweaks and it's dropped to a level the CPUs can handle. Still need to do a few things to get it back to normal though

I'll tentatively say it's fixed
Permission changes have gotten rid of most of the bots. The guest page views are now <5% of what they were a couple of days ago. I turned other processes back on (like embedding) earlier today and we seem to be fine
There's still some steps we can take to make the place more resilient. However those can wait a couple of weeks when hopefully I have more spare time

So what were the bots looking at? Three threads mostly: Hot chicks, movie reviews & US politics
@Duluth so sex, mindless entertainment and politics....the internet stays true too form...disappointed off season signings for minor rugby teams isn't viewed as important as the US presidential race

At least one of those should be deleted IMO. Plenty of places to find dirty pics on the internet.

loaded twice as fast as previously well done

Had issues loading the site this morning and a little bit of slowness persists after e.g. when I hit the button to post, for 5ish seconds the toolbar will still show a draft pending then everything updates.
Also getting "lost connection" orange text pop-up a couple of times posting this

Seems pretty slow for me the past couple of days (at more than one location and on different devices)
