10 different winners in the last 24 years and 5 in the last 6 years isn't actually that bad

I reckon if you stretched that out to semi finalists you wouldn't add many clubs.
And considering you are talking a competition covering the whole of Europe, you've got the same 15 clubs represented at the pointy end every year. And much of that dictated by the QF and semi final draw.

It'll get worse next year. As per usual the formal change is designed for the increased wealth and protection of the uber elite.

In both of the last 2 seasons, the quarter-final has put the best 4 teams on the same side of the draw - meaning finals for Inter and Dortmund and Real Madrid/Man City knocking each other out. As DM says, they are changing it to make sure that the top teams get through wherever possible.
If you finish 9th to 24th in the 36 team league(!) and make it to the final, you will have played 17 games instead of the current 13 games.

Is he a Kiwi or an Aussie? Either way, unfortunate for the Phoenix because he was great this year. Nice piece of business though, and great achievement for the player

Alex Paulsen is from Auckland.
He also can't be loaned back to an A-League club as they changed the rules a few years ago when Melbourne City exploited that loophole.

we had Nik Tzanev at wimbledon until a couple of weeks ago, use to sponsor his kit, hopefully he'll get a new gig soon

no, but he can be loaned to Hibs, Lorient of which he also owns.
Top squad do need a new goalie as Radu won't be extended so there is still a good chance he stays in Bournemouth

As much as Auckland might be viewed differently to the rest of NZ I wouldn’t stoop so low as to class it as Australian…

City are challenging the Premier League's Associated Party Transaction rules (APT) claiming they are unlawful. A private arbitration hearing is scheduled to begin next week. City have accused the Premier League of "discrimination against Gulf ownership" and are also suing for damages, according to a report first published by The Times. City have been owned by the Abu Dhabi United Group since 2008. -

They claim they haven't done anything wrong and rules have been moved to suggest they did.
Without knowing the real truth, I'd say that if they have a clear case / argument, then they could well win.
I'm probably alone on this, but given that the EPL is one of the countries largest cash cows and global draws, I'd personally be about protecting it rather than trying to smash it.
Yeah, it ain't great that City have dominated, but it's not like it's for 50 years. Liverpool, Man U have had similar eras in that timeframe.
