    Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga
A worthy prequel to Fury Road although not as good. Chris Hemsworth gets to ham it up as a fair dinkum Aussie. Mrs Thor even gets to play two roles, one hidden behind the prosthetic makeup. And plenty of explosions and action.

I thought it was better, but I was never in the Fury Road was awesome camp.

Furiosa felt closer to the originals than Fury Road and had less of that stupid pole bouncing bullshit.

I also preferred Taylor-Joy as Furiosa over Theron.

    Under Paris

Ok, this gets kudos for being the only movie my 47 year old other half and my 16 and 14 year old sons could actually agree on…..

But fuck me, that’s the only positive. Look, we all know every Shark movie pales in comparison to the masterpiece that is Jaws, but at least many of the other shithouse initiations play it with tongue firmly in cheek. Maybe it’s a language barrier but these guys were all playing it completely straight as a giant shark somehow makes it’s way into the Seine in Paris, somehow breeds lots of baby sharks, wrecks havoc on a triathlon……you get the gist.

Do NOT be fooled by the positive reviews it got online ( the girl read these before we watched it and the three of us took the piss mercilessly after )

    As for the ending……my word.

Utter shit. Avoid like the plague.

1.5 CGI sharks out of 5 burst eardrums

As someone who had watched a lot of shit shark movies including most titles only found on The Asylum, I will give it an extra .5 point for its originality. It’s still shit though and no tits, so no re watch from me!

This looks worth getting excited about even if the cast look extremely inclusive and woke. It’s still one of the awesome franchises in my opinion although so much of this is down to the first two. Apparently this one is set between them….

I wonder if the whole “trapped in the narrow corridors of a spaceship” thing has already been overdone though.

Unlike a lot of others I really liked Prometheus and Convenant. I hope they do a conclusion to that story so we can find out what becomes of David.

    Godzilla Minus 1

Despite the chronic lack of diversity, alphabet representation and 2 billion dollar budget this film overcame those seemingly insurmountable flaws to be a pretty damn good watch.

Thoroughly enjoyed it and loved the immediate post war Japan setting. The characters were great as well. Wish I'd seen this at the cinema tbh. Not many films are worth it but this one certainly would have been.

Scratching my head a bit with this one. Mad Max has always been a very niche franchise. Fury Road was great but didn't exactly smash the box office and was released almost 10 years ago. I've heard good things about this one but was there ever an audience that justified this massive budget?

The soundtrack is incredible. I've heard so many good covers/remixes/edits of it in clubs.

The 12-bit Amiga tones on this:

Yeah, I thought Prometheus was bloody good. Refreshed the franchise and took it into a new direction. Covenant a bit bleergh though.

Hope Romulous isn't as crap as I fear it will be.

How about making a space opera movie where the plot isn't "everything goes wrong and a monster kills everyone off". Alien is over 40 years old.

That was good book as well, should be pretty quick to film - not a huge number of sets to build.

@Kirwan thats true, a lot of CGI but honestly dont know how long that takes anymore

obviously concerned as to what will get cut....im thinking that actual end will be different

also wondering if we'll get the same format of slowly remembering/working out whats going on?

Marginal to be a 'movie', but it's top tier so I'll post it here anyway.

From the Earth to the Moon.
HBO. 1997. Presented by a very young Tom Hanks.

Has aged like wine, the CGI is dated, but the quality of the documentary* is fantastic. Well shot, well written, well directed. Strong recommend for anyone who is interested in space.

    • because it's not reallly a documentary, but it's damn close

Blade did everything The Matrix did - wire work, bullet time, contemporary soundtrack - but one year earlier, and with a better main character. And Chris Christopherson.

Agree wholeheartedly. Terrific sequel but not a fan of the third as much. ( probably cos of Ryan Reynolds )

Wesley Snipes was born to play that role.

Rewatching the original Mad Max movies after watching Fury Road with the boys.

The originals are just SO much more fun, I like the fact that it’s 100% real stunt work and the weird and fucked up characters just resonate much more.

Tom Hardy is cool as fuck ( not to mention an incredible actor ) but he can’t quite do it like Mel Gibson did ( and I’ll freely admit it was all downhill for MG after this )
