Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga
A worthy prequel to Fury Road although not as good. Chris Hemsworth gets to ham it up as a fair dinkum Aussie. Mrs Thor even gets to play two roles, one hidden behind the prosthetic makeup. And plenty of explosions and action.Scratching my head a bit with this one. Mad Max has always been a very niche franchise. Fury Road was great but didn't exactly smash the box office and was released almost 10 years ago. I've heard good things about this one but was there ever an audience that justified this massive budget?

Just revisited
Some of the fight scenes are a bit am dram but it definitely holds up

The soundtrack is incredible. I've heard so many good covers/remixes/edits of it in clubs.

Unlike a lot of others I really liked Prometheus and Convenant. I hope they do a conclusion to that story so we can find out what becomes of David.
Yeah, I thought Prometheus was bloody good. Refreshed the franchise and took it into a new direction. Covenant a bit bleergh though.
Hope Romulous isn't as crap as I fear it will be.

How about making a space opera movie where the plot isn't "everything goes wrong and a monster kills everyone off". Alien is over 40 years old.

not a review but i saw the "Project Hail Mary" has gone into production....so looking forward to this, the Martian is probably top of my list of movies i can sit and re watch, even jumping in half way through....and pretty sure people on here recommended the book....and i loved it, one of the few books i'll re read

That was good book as well, should be pretty quick to film - not a huge number of sets to build.

@Kirwan thats true, a lot of CGI but honestly dont know how long that takes anymore
obviously concerned as to what will get cut....im thinking that actual end will be different
also wondering if we'll get the same format of slowly remembering/working out whats going on?

Marginal to be a 'movie', but it's top tier so I'll post it here anyway.
From the Earth to the Moon.
HBO. 1997. Presented by a very young Tom Hanks.Has aged like wine, the CGI is dated, but the quality of the documentary* is fantastic. Well shot, well written, well directed. Strong recommend for anyone who is interested in space.
- because it's not reallly a documentary, but it's damn close

Blade did everything The Matrix did - wire work, bullet time, contemporary soundtrack - but one year earlier, and with a better main character. And Chris Christopherson.
Agree wholeheartedly. Terrific sequel but not a fan of the third as much. ( probably cos of Ryan Reynolds )
Wesley Snipes was born to play that role.

Rewatching the original Mad Max movies after watching Fury Road with the boys.
The originals are just SO much more fun, I like the fact that it’s 100% real stunt work and the weird and fucked up characters just resonate much more.
Tom Hardy is cool as fuck ( not to mention an incredible actor ) but he can’t quite do it like Mel Gibson did ( and I’ll freely admit it was all downhill for MG after this )

Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare
Lots of explosions (all the same), lots of gunfights (all the same), lots of dead-pan comments (all the same), lots of exciting music (all the same), lots of knifings (all the same).
Boring as fuck.

I rewatched the latest Indiana Jones film again.
I’ve revised my opinion, it is the worst in the series ( even without Shia le Dickbrain ) Harrison’s grumpy old man schtick is tiresome, his allies were irritating and Mads what’s his name phoned it in.
The time travel stuff was absolutely beyond the realms of entertaining bullshit, it was just bullshit.
My revised order is a very clear 1, 3, 2…..
Daylight……
4………
5…….
They should have stopped in 1989 when Harrison, Sean and the others rode off into the sunset.

Happy Birthday America!!!
It's my first Independence Day in 'murica - so I decided to watch... not Independence Day.
On my first Independence Eve in the US-of-A - I decided to download:- Coming To America (2021 version)
- Team America: World Police
- American Assassin
- Civil War
During the day, somebody reminded me I'd neglected to consider American Ninja.
So - after a day of "bar-hopping" (and watching my new favorite sports team the Mariners kick ass... (with a bases clearing double in the 7th!)
... I watched American Ninja...- So fucking good
- So fucking bad
At this point I've had too much America, too much beer, too much fireworks, to do it justice, but...
- The first 5 minutes is fucking classic. It's great litmus... endure that - you can do the movie. Not? Fair enough - this movie ain't for you.
- A US military car where the logo/labelling is "official use only". A car - not a document.
- an understanding of physics which leads me to believe the Fast'n'Furious script writers are descended from these pricks. Some great stuff.
- Bad guy ninjas. A head ninja who demonstrates his talent to a client by fighting multiple students, and then ends it by killing the last one standing.... therefore... his best student. The 2nd best ninja. Dead now. Despite all the other problems with that... Poor motivation. Poor teaching technique.
- Good guy ninjas. Just.. dumb. I'm getting tired now, good-guy-ninja-guru was pretty stoic. Good-guy-ninja-student took that stoicism to 2010-level degree of teenage-brooding-bullshit. We/they were doing it in the 80s.
- Tit-watch: zero. But I saw in the eyes of the Colonel's Daughter... she wanted to get them out. Fucking hell, she was fighting the director - she so wanted to get those puppies out.
