I liked Coleman but he got a shit hand with injuries.

I like McKellar too, and hope he has better fortune. Hopefully this settles a few nerves in terms of giving some Rebels a home

The ACT Brumbies are set to experience one of the biggest shake-ups in their history, by signing a partnership agreement with Rugby Australia.

The Brumbies would become the second Australian Super Rugby outfit to link up with RA after the Waratahs handed over the keys at the start of the year.

The Brumbies board briefed key stakeholders in the Australian Capital Territory & Southern New South Wales Rugby Union on the club’s financial position and the deal put forward by the national body – a deal that will see RA take charge of the day-to-day business operations.

            Inevitable.

TBH there will be some cost savings and alignment, but it isn't going to affect the on-field spend much.

Rugby Australia still needs to get better at promotion, and a lot of writers at The Roar won't help that.

Agreed. They have no assets and are on the bones of their arses financially. The key clause in the agreement would be keeping the franchise where it is IMO.

@Daffy-Jaffy lol the Reds are going to be very strong and the Tahs very weak. Apparently no one wants to sign with them.

@Daffy-Jaffy they will struggle to field a team at this point. Could be a long year for them next year.

Unlikely to be worse than this year. With new coaching staff, an uninterrupted integration with RA's high performance setup it'll be a rebuilding year. Like all the others...

Losing HJH doesn't help, but I don't feel the Reds are really bolstered by the addition of Gibbon and Anderson. Their benefit is that they've played SR before. And that's about it.

Those negotiations were probably already well in train before the Tahs had cemented their coaching announcements. And tbh I think that's where the Tahs focus has to start - professionalism there will flow down to high performance in the squad.

Makes sense. The good players already played Wales twice. The rest of the squad is starting for the Reds on Friday.

The other factor is that the Tahs have now sorted their HP and Coaching so should be able to proceed with signings. Gives players confidence.

If HJH is leaving it is probably for Twiggybuck$ and someone else (Tupou? Kilea? Both?) is inbound

Less than 12 months after aligning with Rugby Australia, NSW Waratahs chief executive Paul Doorn has been made redundant.

The Roar can reveal the administrator will finish up in the next couple of months, with Doorn set to stay in the role to help new director of performance Simon Raiwalui and head coach Dan McKellar finalise their roster.

What’s more, The Roar can reveal respected strength and conditioning coach Nick Lumley departed earlier this month.

It’s believed Lumley had only recently signed an extension, but the experienced S&C coach was told he wasn’t required by McKellar, who is busy trying to finalise his coaching team after being appointed earlier this month.

Is that accurate, strictly speaking? I always throught it was the role that gets made redundant, not the person.

Are they saying he was booted or that the role of CEO is no longer required?

In any case - real shame. I crossed paths with Paul a few times during my time on the Suburban Board, and he's a really nice bloke and "got" community rugby.

Even if NSWRU is basically a toothless tiger that can't even tell its own schools and comps what to do.
