Hurricanes 2025

Putting my credibility on the line with the TJ news but like I’ve said previously with other news it’s very reliable and couldn’t get much closer to the horses mouth.
The part that gets me is TJ is supposedly still under contract to NZR next season so I’m interested to know how things have been worked there. Have players in NZ been purchased out of their contracts early before or could this be a case of Japan rugby saying ‘we get TJ a year early and we will give you back Mounga a year early’. Bit of a stretch but just thinking of possibilities. Will be interesting to see how it all comes out.
I don’t think the Black Rams and Toshiba work that way.

@canefan cam to ten
Then he can't play 9...
Viljeon is the second best halfback ever so no worries

Whose the best out of interest.

What every Canes fan wants to see, Godfrey getting time in the 10 jersey for HB.

Check out the right winger. He returns.
Was excellent for Otago and actually wondered why Highlanders didn’t take a solid look. Sounds more like off field stuff and a injury here and there has gotten in his way.

@Landers92 could be an option for the Canes if he plays well in the NPC,

I'm pretty sure he played rugby league in Auckland last year. Saw an article somewhere that said only being a partially contracted player in Dunedin was difficult financially, and that's why he returned to Auckland. Probably at that level where he was a very competent NPC winger. Just not Super quality.

@SouthernMann Yup that is correct about league. Good to see him back playing the right code, always enjoyed watching him play.

I hope the Canes have their eyes on Callum Harkin who today guided OBU to the Jubilee Cup. I’ve watched him a couple of times now and he would be a far better option than JGB.
I remember him breaking his leg in a Canes pre season game back in 2019 playing as a halfback. He looks to have come of age as a ten though. Hopefully he starts for Wellington this year.

So I’ve heard a few people mention that Mo’unga will be at the Canes in 2026. 50/50.
