Horizon - An American Saga
Despite being 3 hours long, I enjoyed this movie.
Decent story, and moves along at a decent pace.
Read that chapter 2 is already made, but they decided to delay release to give this one time at the cinema.
3.5 fuck living in those conditions out of 5 it'd be great living in those simpler times

The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare
People who don't like this movie don't like fun. Is it "The Guns of Navaronne"? No. It is not that serious. Is it fun and at times funny? yes. Do lots of Nazis get killed in amusing and incredibly violent ways? Oh so much yes. Is Eiza Gonzalez incredibly smoking hot? oh fuck so much yes.
It's a little thin, but that gives it a sharp run time. Not every movie needs to be 2.5 hours long and darkly toned. It's an action comedy set in WWII, enjoy it for what it is.
The trailer looked good. Guy Ritchie's version of Inglourious Bastards?

it is far less self indulgent

No notes. Would go see again in 20 minutes when the next session starts.
16 LFGs out of 5 Fourth Wall Breaks
Although I had a good time watching, I do have some reservations about it.
I think there were a bunch of good scenes that didn't necessarily add up to a good film and instead of rewatching the film in the future I'm sure everyone would prefer to just watch a bunch of clips. It felt a bit like a Scary Movie-style film, just parodying Marvel films instead of horrors. There was too many 'wink winks' to the audience for my liking, it was a bit too gratuitous, and the countless cameos mixed with the news of RDJ playing Doom in the future doesn't fill me with massive hopes for Secret Wars, because I'm worried they'll do the same thing (i.e. throw a bunch of cameos in without them serving any real purpose beyond a bit of humour). But, in saying all that, it was fun. I just thought it was a bit cheap.

Sign me up for that. IB is one of QTs best and will always hold a special place in my heart as my son’s introduction to Tarantino.
I thought Nazis getting beaten to death with bats was more appropriate than ears getting cut off and dungeon rapes with gimps guarding the door. Baby steps.

@NTA Till now I haven't heard anyone have a positive word about it. The best I'd heard was very meh
Conversely, until now I've only heard positive things about it although I have heard that the critics have been all over the show.
I'll see it Wednesday and report back.
Watched Uproar this weekend:
Had Ricky Baker from Hunt and Boy from Boy in it. Was about a kid trying to fit in against the backdrop of the 1981 Springbok tour.
Was amiable enough, a few chuckles, had one scene that annoyed me.
Better than the Convert of the recent NZ films I've seen.

Civil War
1/3 of the way through...- fluffybunny of a justification for the existence of reporters
- To be fair, I've always thought that being a "war-time photographer" is something I'd quite like to do, as a guilty pleasure, not for the gory shit, but just seeing/knowing certain places....
- ... but this just takes it too far. Fuck that shit.
Still watching, but current titwatch is zero, and I don't expect that to change
It's a fucking glorification of the whole "profession" of journalism, and I don't like it.

I had heard a mix of things. I didn't have my expectations high so I could just take it as it came.
Loved it.

@Mr-Fish I can see where you're coming from on your reservations. I think the parody and fourth wall breaks are the whole point.
As for the upcoming films in the MCU .... well the fucked themselves a bit and it remains to be seen whether they can manage their way out of it I guess.

Judging by some of the male cast that could be possible.

Don't get me wrong, enjoy them to a certain point! Think they've been done really well in previous DP films, just felt like this one didn't have much else to offer beyond that.

Fuck - I can't even remember watching that.
I was pretty smashed before I even started... a glorious day of our Mariners thrashing the White-Sox, our Seawolves winning with a late try, and some fairly mixed results by the Pioneers in Major-League-Pickleball.
And multiple breweries on the journey.
I've got zero idea of whether I even watched that movie to completion. I just remember disliking it. Even/especially when it tried to justify/defend itself against my main points of contention. -

Well I saw it, it was great, it's exactly like the first two so if you like that then you should be on board, just with added cameos.
My favourite cameo was X23, really glad they brought her back. Odd that Cable didn't come back for a cameo too. Also odd that Domino wasn't in Deadpools friend group in his timeline. However, if you don't like that shtick then you're likely not going to like it.
Box office seems to be pretty good, likely to hit a billion.

16 LFGs out of 5 Fourth Wall Breaks
watched it last night, a lot of fun and lots of OMG they said that moments, even for a Deadpool movie
interesting they actually introduced some potentially important ideas re the wider MCU in a film lots of kids wont be allowed to see
there have now been 117 uses of FUCK in the MCU....116 in D&W
